As of December 31, 2014, 60 franchise groups operated 1,994 Applebee’s franchise restaurants while the company operated 23 restaurants in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Franchise operations revenue consists primarily of franchise royalty revenues, sales of proprietary products (primarily IHOP pancake and waffle dry-mixes) and the portion of the franchise fees allocated to IHOP and Applebee's intellectual property. Domestic and International Franchise Restaurant Development As of December 31, 2014, the company had 55 development agreements with 19 Applebee’s franchise groups in place covering the entire the United States (except Hawaii and company-operated market) and 9 development agreements with 8 franchise groups calling for restaurant development in foreign countries. The Applebee’s development agreements in place call for the opening of a combined total of 102 domestic restaurants and 19 international restaurants in 2015 and 2016.
