Lending Activities Retail Consumer Loans One-to Four-Family Real Estate Lending: The company originates loans secured by first mortgages on one-to four-family residences for the purchase or refinance of owner-occupied primary or secondary residences located primarily in its market areas. It originates one-to four-family residential mortgage loans primarily through referrals from real estate agents, builders, and from existing customers. The company originates both fixed-rate loans and adjustable-rate loans. Home Equity Lines of Credit: The company’s home equity loans include adjustable-rate lines of credit. Construction and Land/Lots: The company originates construction to permanent loans to homeowners building a residence. Subsidiary and Other Activities The bank has one operating subsidiary, Western North Carolina Service Corporation, whose primary purpose is to own various office buildings in Asheville, North Carolina, which are leased to the bank and other tenants. Regulations The company is a bank holding company and is subject to regulation by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Federal Reserve). The company is also subject to the rules and regulations of the SEC under the federal securities laws. The business activities of the company are limited to those activities permissible for bank holding companies under Section 4(c)(8) of the Bank Holding Company Act and certain additional activities authorized by the Federal Reserve regulations. The bank is regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), its primary federal regulator, and by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the insurer of its deposits. The bank is a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) issues regulations under those laws that the bank must comply with. The bank is also regulated by the Federal Reserve, which governs the reserves to be maintained against deposits and other matters. Signficant Events In November 2014, HomeTrust Bancshares, Inc. announced the opening of a Commercial Loan Production Office in Raleigh, N.C. The HomeTrust Bank Loan Production Office would provide businesses in the greater Raleigh market with a full array of commercial banking services.
