Activewear This segment operates in the activewear market through the company’s Champion, Hanes, JMS/Just My Size, and Duofold brands, where the company sells products, such as T-shirts and fleece to both retailers and wholesalers. In addition to activewear for men and women, Champion provides uniforms for athletic programs and includes an apparel program, C9 by Champion, at Target stores. The company also licenses its Champion name for footwear and sports accessories. In the company’s branded printwear category, the company supplies its T-shirts, sport shirts, and fleece products, including brands, such as Hanes, Champion, and Hanes Beefy-T, to customers, primarily wholesalers, who then resell to screen printers and embellishers. The company also sells licensed logo apparel in collegiate bookstores and other channels under its Gear for Sports brand. Direct to Consumer This segment’s operations include the company’s domestic company-operated outlet stores, catalogs, and Website operations that sell its branded products directly to consumers in the United States. As of January 3, 2015, the company had 250 outlet stores in the United States and operated Websites under the Hanes, One Hanes Place, JMS/Just My Size, Champion, and Maidenform names. International This segment includes products that span across the Innerwear and Activewear segments, and are primarily marketed under the Hanes, Champion, DIM, Nur Die/Nur Der, Wonderbra, Playtex, Maidenform, Zorba, Kendall, Rinbros, Shock Absorber, Sol y Oro, Abanderado, Flexees, Lilyette, Polo Ralph Lauren, Track N Field, Ritmo, Maidenform, Donna Karan, and DKNY brands. Customers and Distribution Channels The company’s major customers, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (Wal-Mart); Target Corporation; and Kohl’s Corporation (Kohl’s), accounted for 24%, 17%, and 5%, respectively, of the company’s total net sales in 2014. As of January 3, 2015, the company distributed its products from 39 distribution centers. The company sells all of its product categories in the mass merchant channel primarily under its Hanes, Champion, Playtex, Maidenform, and JMS/Just My Size brands. Mass merchants feature the sale of basic apparel items along with various consumer goods products, such as grocery and drug products, and other hard lines; and are characterized by large retailers, such as Wal-Mart.
