As of December 31, 2014, it had 182 branch locations in 7 states, including 168 branches in Tennessee; 2 branches in northwestern Georgia; 7 branches in northwestern Mississippi; 2 branches in North Carolina; and 1 branch each in Virginia, South Carolina, and Florida. Segments The company operates in the Regional Banking, Capital Markets, and Non-Strategic segments. The Regional Banking segment offers financial products and services, including traditional lending and deposit taking, to retail and commercial customers largely in Tennessee and other selected markets. This segment provides investments, financial planning, trust services and asset management, credit card, and cash management. Additionally, the Regional Banking segment includes correspondent banking which provides credit, depository, and other banking related services to other financial institutions nationally. The Capital Markets segment consists of fixed income sales, trading, and strategies for institutional clients in the U.S. and abroad, as well as loan sales, portfolio advisory, and derivative sales. The Nonstrategic segment consists of the wind-down national consumer lending activities, and legacy mortgage banking elements. Services As of December 31, 2014, the company provided the following services through subsidiaries: general banking services for consumers, businesses, financial institutions, and governments; fixed income sales and trading; underwriting of bank-eligible securities and other fixed-income securities eligible for underwriting by financial subsidiaries; loan sales; advisory services; derivative sales; discount brokerage and full-service brokerage; correspondent banking; transaction processing, such as nationwide check clearing services and remittance processing; trust, fiduciary, and agency services; credit card products; equipment finance; investment and financial advisory services; mutual fund sales as agent; retail insurance sales as agent; and mortgage banking services. Loan Portfolio As of December 31, 2014, the company’s loan portfolio included commercial loans, such as commercial, financial, industrial, and commercial real estate loans; and retail loans, such as consumer real estate, permanent mortgage, one-time close residential construction, and credit card and other loans. Investment Portfolio As of December 31, 2014, the company’s investment portfolio included securities of U.S. treasuries; government agency issued mortgage-backed securities and collateralized mortgage obligations; government agency issued collateralized mortgage obligations; securities of states and municipalities; and other securities. Deposits As of December 31, 2014, the company’s deposits included certificates of deposit. Regulation The company is a bank holding company and financial holding company within the meaning of the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, as amended (the BHCA), and is registered with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (the Federal Reserve or Federal Reserve Board). The company is subject to the regulation and supervision of and examination by the Federal Reserve under the BHCA. The bank is a national banking association subject to regulation, examination and supervision by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as its primary federal regulator. The bank is insured by, and subject to regulation by, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and is subject to regulation in certain respects by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
