Statoil ASA (Statoil), an energy company, engages in the exploration, production, transportation, refining, and marketing of petroleum and petroleum-derived products in Norway and internationally. Segments The company’s segments include Development and Production Norway (DPN); Development and Production International (DPI), which combines the DPI and Development & Production North America (DPNA) business areas; Marketing, Processing and Renewable Energy (MPR); and Other. DPN DPN consists of the company’s exploration, field development and operational activities on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). In 2014, the company had Statoil-operated assets in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea, and it also operated a significant number of exploration licenses. The company’s equity and entitlement production on the NCS was 1,184 mboe (thousand barrels of oil equivalent) per day in 2014. In 2014, its daily production of oil and natural gas liquids (NGL) on the NCS was 588 mboe, and its average daily gas production on the NCS was 95 mmcm (million cubic metres) (3.3 billion cubic feet). DPN has organized the production operations into four business clusters: Operations North (Barents Sea) located in Harstad, Operations Mid-Norway (Norwegian Sea) located in Stjørdal near Trondheim, Operations West (North Sea) located in Bergen and Operation South (North Sea) located in Stavanger. Partner-operated fields cover the entire NCS and are internally included in the Operations South business cluster. Operations North: The main producing field in the Operations North area is the Snøhvit field. The company has 36.79% interest in Snøhvit, 36.79% interest in Norne, and 63.95% interest in Skuld. Operations Mid-Norway: The main producing fields in the Operations Mid-Norway area are Åsgard, Morvin, Kristin and Tyrihans. The company has 34.57% interest in The Åsgard field development; 43.97% interest in Mikkel; 13.04% interest in Heidrun; 55.30% interest in Kristin; 58.84% interest in Tyrihans; 20.00% interest in the Njord field; and 35.00% interest in Hyme. Operations West: The main producing fields in the Operations West area are Troll, Oseberg, Gullfaks, Kvitebjørn, Visund and Grane. The company has 30.58% interest in Troll; 49.30% interest in The Oseberg area; 51.00% interest in Gullfaks; 39.55% interest in Kvitebjørn; 53.20% interest in Visund; 36.66% interest in Grane; 57.0 % interest in the Svalin field development; 29.44% interest in the Heimdal platforms; 59.60% interest in Volve; 18.00% interest in the Veslefrikk field; 19.88 % interest in Huldra; and 45.00% interest in Fram. Operations South: The main producing fields in Operations South are Sleipner, Gudrun, Snorre and Statfjord. Operations South produces from the satellite fields Tordis and Vigdis, which are tied into Gullfaks C and Snorre A, as well as the Statfjord satellites, which are tied into the Statfjord C platform. Sleipner consists of the Sleipner East (Statoil interest 59.60%), Gungne (Statoil interest 62.00%) and Sleipner West (Statoil interest 58.35%) gas and condensate fields. The company has 51.00% interest in The Gudrun; 33.32% interest in The Snorre field development; and 44.34% interest in Statfjord. The Statfjord satellites consist of Statfjord North (Statoil interest 21.88%), Statfjord East (Statoil interest 31.69%) and Sygna (Statoil interest 30.71%). Partner-operated fields The main producing fields are Ormen Lange, Skarv and Ekofisk. The company has 25.35% interest in Ormen Lange; and 36.17% interest in Skarv. Ekofisk is operated by ConocoPhillips. It consists of the Ekofisk, Eldfisk and Embla fields (Statoil interest 7.60%), and Tor (Statoil interest 6.64%). Exploration on the NCS North Sea: In the North Sea, the company participated in 17 completed exploration wells and 2 exploration extension wells. The company operated 10 of the exploration wells with 9 discoveries. Key discovery wells are Askja East, Valemon North and D-Structure.
