The company’s mobile broadband non-voice services primarily include wireless Internet, mobile reading, mobile music, ‘WO App Store’ and other wireless information services. Subscriber: The company’s total number of mobile broadband subscribers included 149.11 million as of December 31, 2014 (which included 8.06 million wireless data card subscribers). Mobile Broadband Voice Services: The total mobile broadband voice usage included 555.6 billion minutes in 2014. Mobile Broadband Non-Voice Services: In 2014, the data usage of mobile broadband handset users reached 353.19 billion MB. As of December 31, 2014, the company had 221.49 million registered subscribers of ‘WO App Store’ and 23.62 million registered subscribers of mobile music. GSM Mobile Services The company’s GSM mobile services primarily consist of GSM voice services and non-voice services. Its GSM voice services enable its subscribers to make and receive phone calls with a mobile handset at any point within the coverage area of the company’s mobile telecommunications networks and include local calls, domestic long-distance calls, international long-distance calls, intra-provincial roaming, inter-provincial roaming and international roaming. The company’s GSM non-voice services include mobile Internet, SMS, ‘Cool Ringtone’ (a personalized ring-back tone service), and other wireless information services. Subscriber: The company’s total number of GSM mobile subscribers included 149.99 million as of December 31, 2014. Fixed-Line Services The company is a primary fixed-line broadband and communications operator in northern China. The company offers a range of fixed-line services nationwide in China, including fixed-line broadband services and data communications services; fixed-line voice services, include local and long-distance fixed-line voice services and value-added services; and other services. Fixed-Line Broadband Services and Data Communications Services Fixed-Line Broadband Services: The company is a provider of fixed-line broadband services in its fixed-line northern service region. In 2014, the company continued to upgrade its fiber-optic transmission network and improved access speed. As of December 31, 2014, the company’s fixed-line broadband subscribers included 68.79 million. Data Communications Services: The company is a major provider of data communications services in its fixed-line northern service region. The company offers data products, such as those based on digital data networks, frame relay, asynchronous transfer mode, and Internet protocol-virtual private network. The company also offers leased line products, including domestic and international leased circuits. Its customers for these services include government entities, large financial institutions and other domestic and multinational businesses, Internet service providers and other telecommunications operators. As of December 31, 2014, the company established business cooperation relationships with 585 overseas operators in 251 countries and regions and multinational corporate customers to provide various international data communications products and services, such as international voice and data services. In 2014, the company continued to offer full-scale data communications services to international operators and domestic and international corporate customers. It has also improved its capabilities to offer cross-border data communications and integrated information services. Fixed-Line Voice Services The company’s fixed-line voice services consist of local voice, domestic long-distance, international long-distance, interconnection and PHS services. The company promoted bundled products and services marketed under the brand ‘WO Family’. As of December 31, 2014, the number of the company’s ‘WO Family’ subscribers included 21.25 million. Local Voice Services: The total usage of the company’s local calls was 69,879 million times in 2014. Long-Distance Voice Services: The company offers traditional long-distance services and VoIP long-distance services. Fixed-Line Value-Added Services In addition to fixed-line telephone voice services, the company offers a range of value-added services on its fixed-line networks. The company’s value-added services generate additional usage on its networks and increase its average revenue per fixed-line subscriber. The company’s major fixed-line value-added services include ‘Personalized Ring’ and caller-identification services. ‘Personalized Ring’ services enable the company’s fixed-line subscribers to personalize the ring-back tone for incoming calls. Trademarks The company conducts its businesses under the Unicom name and logo. Competition The company competes with China Mobile Communications Corporation and China Telecommunications Corporation. History The company was founded in 2000. It was incorporated under the laws of Hong Kong in 2000 under the Companies Ordinance as a company limited by shares under the name China Unicom Limited. In 2008, the company changed its name to China Unicom (Hong Kong) Limited.
