Citigroup Inc., a diversified financial services holding company, provides various financial products and services to consumers, corporations, governments, and institutions. The company serves approximately 200 million customer accounts in 160 countries and jurisdictions. Segments The company operates through two segments, Global Consumer Banking (GCB) and Institutional Clients Group (ICG). GCB GCB consists of the company’s four geographical consumer banking businesses that provide traditional banking services to retail customers through retail banking, commercial banking, Citi-branded cards and Citi retail services. GCB is a globally diversified business with 3,280 branches in 35 countries worldwide. The company consists of various operating businesses, including GCB (which consists of consumer banking in North America, EMEA, Latin America, and Asia) and Institutional Clients Group (which includes Banking and Markets and securities services). The company’s overall strategy is to utilize its global footprint and seek to be the preeminent bank for the emerging affluent and affluent consumers in large urban centers. North America GCB North America GCB provides traditional banking and Citi-branded cards and Citi retail services to retail customers and small to mid-size businesses in the U.S. North America GCB’s 849 retail bank branches are largely concentrated in the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Miami, Washington, D.C., Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. As of December 31, 2014, North America GCB had approximately 11.7 million retail banking customer accounts. In addition, North America GCB had approximately 111.7 million Citi-branded and Citi retail services credit card accounts. EMEA GCB EMEA GCB provides traditional banking and Citi-branded card services to retail customers and small to mid-size businesses, primarily in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. As of December 31, 2014, EMEA GCB had 137 retail bank branches with approximately 3.1 million retail banking customer accounts and 2.0 million Citi-branded card accounts. Latin America GCB Latin America GCB provides traditional banking and Citi-branded card services to retail customers and small to mid-size businesses, with the presence in Mexico and Brazil. Latin America GCB includes branch networks throughout Latin America, as well as Banco Nacional de Mexico, or Banamex. As of December 31, 2014, Latin America GCB had 1,829 retail branches, with approximately 31.5 million retail banking customer accounts. Asia GCB Asia GCB provides traditional banking and Citi-branded card services to retail customers and small to mid-size businesses, with the major Citi presence in Korea, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. As of December 31, 2014, Asia GCB had 465 retail branches, approximately 16.4 million retail banking customer accounts. The company’s global bank for consumers and businesses and represents Citi’s core franchises. The company focuses on providing products and services to customers and leveraging its unparalleled global network. The company has operation in approximately 100 countries, and offers services in approximately 160 countries and jurisdictions. The company provides a foundation for servicing the broad financial services needs of its large multinational clients and for meeting the needs of retail, private banking, commercial, public sector and institutional clients around the world. The company offers securities brokerage, trade and securities services, and wealth management. ICG This segment provides corporate, institutional, public sector and high-net-worth clients around the world with a range of wholesale banking products and services, including fixed income and equity sales and trading, foreign exchange, prime brokerage, derivative services, equity and fixed income research, corporate lending, investment banking and advisory services, private banking, cash management, trade finance and securities services. ICG transacts with clients in both cash instruments and derivatives, including fixed income, foreign currency, equity, and commodity products. ICG’s international presence is supported by trading floors in approximately 80 countries and a proprietary network in approximately 95 countries and jurisdictions. Supervision, Regulation and Other The company is a registered bank holding company and financial holding company and is regulated and supervised by the Federal Reserve Board. The company’s nationally chartered subsidiary banks, including Citibank, N.A., are regulated and supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and its state-chartered depository institution by the relevant state’s banking department and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Overseas branches of Citibank, N.A. are regulated and supervised by the Federal Reserve Board and OCC and overseas subsidiary banks by the Federal Reserve Board. The company conducts securities underwriting, brokerage and dealing activities in the U.S. through Citigroup Global Markets Inc., its primary broker-dealer, and other broker-dealer subsidiaries, which are subject to regulations of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and certain exchanges. Citi conducts similar securities activities outside the U.S., subject to local requirements, through various subsidiaries and affiliates, principally Citigroup Global Markets Limited in London, which is regulated principally by the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority, and Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc. in Tokyo, which is regulated principally by the Financial Services Agency of Japan.
