BroadSoft, Inc. provides software and services that enable mobile, fixed-line, and cable service providers to deliver hosted, cloud-based Unified Communications (UC) over their Internet protocol (IP) based networks. UC-One UC-One, the company’s UC solution, is a communications and collaboration offering that enables mobile, fixed-line, cable and converged (mobile and fixed-line) service providers to offer businesses and other enterprises UC features and functionalities on a hosted basis without the need for traditional premise-based private branch exchange (PBX) equipment. The company’s technology is designed to meet service providers’ requirements for service availability, network integration and scale and to address the needs of various business segments, such as micro, small, medium and large enterprises, and vertical market segments such as hospitality, government, education and healthcare. The company’s UC-One services include HD voice and video calling, audio conferencing, instant messaging and presence, desktop sharing and collaboration and call center capabilities. Because these capabilities can be accessed through desk phones, smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs, UC-One provides full support for distributed workforce and mobile employees. The company offers service providers the following two deployment options, software and software-as-a-service (SaaS), to enable them to offer UC services to their enterprise customers: Software: BroadWorks is the company’s application server software offering, with the software deployed on industry-standard servers generally located in the service provider’s data centers. With BroadWorks implemented as an application server in its infrastructure, the service provider is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall solution and integration with the service provider’s network, operations, support and billing systems. SaaS: The second deployment option is its BroadCloud SaaS offering. BroadCloud provides a managed services offering for service providers. In this model, the company has implemented UC-One and other BroadWorks capabilities within its own data centers and provides operations capabilities covering sales and order management, service delivery, device provisioning, customer service and billing. Global Support Services The company offers services designed to deliver comprehensive support to its service provider customers and distribution partners through every stage of product deployment. The company’s services can be categorized as follows: Pre-sales support: The company’s worldwide sales engineering group works with its direct sales force to provide demonstrations, architecture consulting, interoperability testing and related services in connection with product sales opportunities to establish the capability, functionality, scalability and interoperability of its software with a service provider’s network. Professional services: The company’s professional services group provides installation services, such as planning, consulting and staging of software on the customer’s hardware, as well as network integration services, project management and remote upgrades. The company also offers its customers the option of longer-term engagements in the form of ‘resident engineering’ services. In addition, the company offers a full suite of consulting services including network planning, network architecture definition, back office consulting and solution verification. Global operations centers: The company maintains operations centers in various locations worldwide to provide its customers with product life-cycle services, such as platform support and maintenance services. The company also hosts its BroadCloud offerings in select operations centers. Members of its technical assistance center and regional project management and professional services teams provide remote assistance to customers via these locations and its in-depth Web support portal, including periodic updates for its software products and product documentation.
