Banco Santander-Chile provides a range of commercial and retail banking services to its customers. The company’s services include Chilean peso and foreign currency denominated loans to finance various commercial transactions, trade, foreign currency forward contracts and credit lines and various retail banking services, including mortgage financing. In addition to the company’s traditional banking operations, it offers various financial services, including financial leasing, financial advisory services, mutual fund management, securities brokerage, insurance brokerage, and investment management. The company has 474 total branches, 273 of which are operated under the Santander brand name, with the remaining branches under certain specialty brand names, including 67 under the Santander Banefe brand name, 51 under the Select brand name, 5 specialized branches for the Middle Market, and 78 as auxiliary and payment centers. The company provides a range of financial services to corporate and individual customers. The company divides its clients into various groups, such as Individuals and Small and Mid-sized (SMEs); Companies and Institutions; and Global Banking and Markets. Individuals and SMEs Santander Banefe: This segment provides customers with various services, including consumer loans, credit cards, auto loans, mortgage loans, debit cards, savings products, mutual funds and insurance brokerage. Commercial Banking: This segment provides customers with various services, including consumer loans, credit cards, auto loans, commercial loans, foreign exchange, mortgage loans, debit cards, checking accounts, savings products, mutual funds, stock brokerage and insurance brokerage. SMEs: This segment provides customers with various products and services, including commercial loans, government-guaranteed loans, leasing, factoring, foreign trade, credit cards, mortgage loans, checking accounts, savings products, mutual funds and insurance brokerage. Companies and Institutions Middle Market: The companies within this segment have access to various products, including commercial loans, leasing, factoring, foreign trade, credit cards, mortgage loans, checking accounts, transactional services, treasury services, financial consulting, savings products, mutual funds and insurance brokerage. Real Estate: This segment includes companies in the real estate industry who sell properties to third parties. These clients are offered not only traditional banking services but also specialized assistance in financing projects, chiefly residential, with the aim of expanding sales of mortgage loans. Large Corporations: The companies within this segment have access to various products, including commercial loans, leasing, factoring, foreign trade, credit cards, mortgage loans, checking accounts, transactional services, treasury services, financial consulting, investment, savings products, mutual funds, and insurance. Institutions: The institutions within this segment have access to various products, including commercial loans, leasing, factoring, foreign trade, credit cards, mortgage loans, checking accounts, transactional services, treasury services, savings products, mutual funds and insurance. Global Banking and Markets Corporate: The companies within this segment have access to various products, including commercial loans, leasing, factoring, foreign trade, credit cards, mortgage loans, checking accounts, transactional services, treasury services, financial consulting, investments, savings products, mutual funds and insurance brokerage. Treasury: This segment provides financial products, primarily to companies in the Wholesale Banking area and the Companies segment. These include products, such as short-term financing and fund raising, brokerage services, derivatives, securitization and other tailor-made products. Treasury might broker transactions and also manages the company’s investment portfolio. Regulation and Supervision The company, as a foreign private issuer whose securities are registered under the U.S. Securities Exchange Act of 1934, is subject to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Furthermore, the company is subject to various U.S. anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing laws and regulations, such as the Bank Secrecy Act of 1970, as amended; and the USA PATRIOT ACT of 2001, as amended, as well as a violation of such laws and regulations might result in substantial penalties, fines and imprisonment of its officers and/or directors.
