Business Strategy The main elements in the company’s strategy include strengthening its global distribution network; increasing its domestic and international client base; revitalizing its core business directed at the client, consumer and market preferences; diversifying its lines of products, particularly focusing on higher added value food products; and expanding its operations in Brazil and on the export markets. The company’s portfolio strategy is focused on creating new, convenient, practical and healthy products for its consumers based on their needs. Products The company focuses on the production and sale of poultry, pork, and processed foods. Poultry The company produces frozen whole and cut poultry. In 2014, it slaughtered approximately 1.66 billion heads of poultry. The company sold 1,984 thousand tons of frozen chicken and other poultry products in 2014. Most of the company’s poultry sales are to its export markets. Pork and Beef In 2014, the company slaughtered approximately 9.62 million hogs and cattle. The company is developing its international customer base for pork and beef cuts. In 2014, it sold 336 thousand tons of pork and beef cuts. Processed Food Products The company produces processed foods, such as marinated, frozen chicken, Chester rooster and turkey meat, specialty meats, frozen processed foods, frozen prepared entrees, portioned products and sliced products. The company sold 2,072 thousand tons of processed foods in 2014. Its processed food products strategy relies on brand equity management, varied product portfolio with strategic pricing, and innovation and service excellence, which allows its products to reach various Brazilian and international homes each day. Specialty Meats The company processes pork to produce specialty meats, such as sausages, ham products, bologna, frankfurters, salamis, bacon and cold meats. The company also processes chicken and other poultry to produce specialty meats, such as chicken sausages, chicken hot dogs, and chicken bologna. Frozen Processed Meats The company produces a range of frozen processed poultry, pork and beef products, including hamburgers, steaks, breaded meat products, kibes (a type of Middle Eastern beef patty in Brazil) and meatballs. Marinated Poultry The company produces marinated and seasoned chickens, roosters (under the Chester brand) and turkeys. The company oversees the production of Chester roosters in Brazil from hatching to distribution, and it owns the trademarks for the Chester line of products. Frozen Prepared Entrees The company produces a range of frozen prepared entrees, some of which contain poultry, beef and pork meat that it produces, including pastas and pizzas, vegetables, cheese bread, and pies and pastries. Pastas and Pizzas: The company produces several varieties of lasagna, pizza and other ready-to-eat meals. It produces the meat used in these products and buy other raw materials in the domestic market, excepts for the durum flour used to make the noodles for the lasagna, which it imports. Vegetables: The company sells various frozen vegetables, such as broccoli, peas and French fries. These products are produced by third parties that deliver them to it packaged. The company purchases most of these products in the domestic market, but it imports French fries and peas. Cheese Bread: The company produces cheese bread, a Brazilian bread infused with cheese. It purchases the ingredients in the domestic market, excepts for the parmesan cheese, which it imports. Pies and Pastries: The company produces various pies and pastries, such as chicken and heart-of-palm pies and lime pies. It produces the meat, sauces and toppings used in its pies and pastries, and purchases other raw materials, such as heart-of-palm, lime and other fillings from third parties.
