Baidu Union members can display on their properties customers’ promotional links that match the content of such members’ properties. Intellectual Property The company has 243 issued patents in China and intends to apply for more patents to protect its core technologies. It also has registered certain trademarks in Hong Kong, including its company logo in the United States, and ‘Baidu’ in Singapore and Indonesia, including its company logo. Significant Events In May 2015, Taboola announced strategic investment partnership with Baidu. Together, Taboola and Baidu plan to bring content discovery to the Chinese market. Competition China-based Internet Companies: The company competes with Alibaba, which offers search services on its Websites. In addition, Qihoo 360, a company operating an Internet platform and primarily providing security products, launched its search services in 2012 and competes with the company on Internet search. History The company was founded in 2000. It was incorporated in the Cayman Islands in 2000. The company was formerly known as Baidu.com, Inc. and changed its name to Baidu, Inc. in 2008.
