Segments The company’s operates in five principal segments, including Commercial Airplanes; Defense, Space & Security (BDS), which include Boeing Military Aircraft (BMA), Network & Space Systems (N&SS), and Global Services & Support (GS&S); and Boeing Capital Corporation (BCC). Commercial Airplanes This segment develops, produces and markets commercial jet aircraft and provides related support services, principally to the commercial airline industry worldwide. The company produces commercial aircraft and offers a family of commercial jetliners designed to meet a spectrum of passenger and cargo requirements of airlines. This family of commercial jet aircraft in production includes the 737 narrow-body model and the 747, 767, 777 and 787 wide-body models. Development continues on the 787-9, 787-10 and 737 MAX derivatives. The company offers the 777X, which features a new composite wing, new engines and folding wing-tips. This segment also offers aviation services support, aircraft modifications, spares, training, maintenance documents and technical advice to commercial and government customers worldwide. BDS This segment’s operations principally involve research, development, production, modification and support of the products and related systems. This segment’s primary customer is the United States Department of Defense. The company’s customers also include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), international defense markets, civil markets and commercial satellite markets. This segment consists of three capabilities-driven businesses, such as BMA, N&SS, and GS&S. Additionally, the Phantom Works group is an integrated team that works with the three businesses through product development, rapid prototyping and customer engagement through experimentation and enterprise technology investment strategies. BMA This segment engages in the research, development, production and modification of manned and unmanned military aircraft and weapons systems for global strike, including fighter aircraft and missile systems; vertical lift, including rotorcraft and tilt-rotor aircraft; unmanned airborne systems programs; and mobility, surveillance and engagement, including command and control, battle management, airborne, anti-submarine, transport and tanker aircraft. The major programs in this segment include EA-18G Growler Airborne Electronic Attack, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, F-15 Strike Eagle and Joint Direct Attack Munition for global strike; CH-47 Chinook, AH-64 Apache, and V-22 Osprey for vertical lift; ScanEagle for unmanned airborne systems programs; and C-17 Globemaster III, P-8A Poseidon, India P-8I, and KC-46A Tanker for mobility, surveillance and engagement. The C-17 Globemaster III program is scheduled to end production in late 2015. N&SS This segment engages in the research, development, production and modification of various products and related services, such as electronics and information solutions, including command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, cyber and information solutions, and intelligence systems; strategic missile and defense systems; space and intelligence systems, including satellites and commercial satellite launch vehicles; and space exploration. The major programs in this segment include for strategic missile and defense systems, such as ground-based midcourse defense; for space and intelligence systems, commercial, civil and military satellites; and for space exploration, space launch system, commercial crew and international space station. This segment also includes its joint venture operations related to United Launch Alliance. GS&S This segment provides customers with mission readiness through total support solutions. The company’s global services business sustains aircraft and systems with a spectrum of products and services through integrated logistics, including supply chain management and engineering support; maintenance, modification and upgrades for aircraft; and training systems and government services,
