Apache Corporation, an independent energy company, explores for, develops, and produces natural gas, crude oil, and natural gas liquids. The company has exploration and production interests in four countries, including the U.S., Canada, Egypt, and the U.K. (North Sea). North America The company’s North American assets are primarily located in the Permian Basin, the Anadarko basin in western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle, Gulf Coast and the offshore Gulf of Mexico areas of the U.S., and in Western Canada. North America Onshore The company has access to liquid hydrocarbons across its 10.7 million gross acres onshore in the U.S. and Canada. The company’s onshore assets are divided into a few key regions, such as Permian, MidContinent/Gulf Coast, and Canada. Permian Region: The company’s Permian region controls approximately 3.3 million gross acres with exposure to various plays across the Permian Basin. The company is the operator in the Permian Basin, with approximately 14,300 producing wells in 163 fields, including 58 waterfloods and 7 CO2 floods. During 2015, the company drilled or participated in drilling 378 wells, 217 of which were horizontal. MidContinent/Gulf Coast Region: The company’s MidContinent/Gulf Coast region holds 2.8 million gross acres and includes 3,402 producing wells primarily in western Oklahoma, the Texas Panhandle, and south Texas. In 2015, the company drilled or participated in drilling 127 wells. The region focused on drilling activities in the Canyon Lime, Eagle Ford, Marmaton, and Woodford formations. The company is active in the Woodford-SCOOP play in Central Oklahoma targeting the Woodford formation, where the company drilled or participated in drilling 33 wells. The company’s prolific Canyon Lime and Woodford plays would again be a focus area for region drilling activity in 2016. Canada Region: The company holds approximately 3.6 million gross acres across the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. The company’s Canadian region held 280 million barrel of oil equivalent (MMboe) of estimated proved reserves as of December 31, 2015. In 2015, the company drilled or participated in drilling 38 wells in the region. Drilling operations continued in the company’s established Swan Hills, Bluesky, and Glauconite plays, and the company de-risked its Montney and Duvernay emerging growth plays. North America Offshore Gulf of Mexico Region: The Gulf of Mexico region comprises assets in the offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico and onshore Louisiana. The company’s offshore technical teams continue to focus on subsalt and other deeper exploration opportunities in water depths less than 1,000 feet, which have been relatively untested by the industry. In addition to the exploration and development of properties in shallower water, the company continues to pursue joint venture and other monetization opportunities for its deepwater prospects, which offer exposure to reserve and production potential in underexplored and oil-prone areas in water depths greater than 1,000 feet. North America Marketing The company’s natural gas is sold primarily to local distribution companies, utilities, end-users, marketers, and integrated major oil companies. The company primarily markets its North American crude oil to integrated major oil companies, marketing and transportation companies, and refiners. International The company’s international assets are located in Egypt and offshore U.K. in the North Sea. Egypt As of December 31, 2015, the company held 6.7 million gross acres in 24 separate concessions. The company drilled 97 development and 25 exploration wells in 2015. Marketing: The company’s gas production is sold to Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation. North Sea The company owns an approximate 97 percent working interest in the Forties field (Forties). The company also owns Mobil North Sea Limited, providing the region with additional exploration and development opportunities across various fields, including operated interests in the Beryl, Nevis, Nevis South, Skene, and Buckland fields; and non-operated interests in the Maclure field.
