Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited is engaged in the design, development, and supply of a portfolio of power semiconductors. The company’s portfolio of power semiconductors includes approximately 1,400 products. Products The company’s portfolio of products targets high-volume applications, including personal computers, flat panel TVs, LED lighting, smart phones, battery packs, consumer and industrial motor controls and power supplies for TVs, computers, servers and telecommunications equipment. To serve the analog market for power semiconductors, the company has created a product portfolio consisting of two categories: Power discretes and Power ICs. The company’s power discretes products consist primarily of low, medium and high voltage power metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs). The company also introduced the XSFET packaging technology platform to provide a high thermal performance solution for advanced computing. The company’s mid-voltage MOSFET portfolio offers solutions for telecommunications and industrial power supply applications. The company’s high-voltage portfolio includes its proprietary insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) technology. Power discrete products The company’s power discrete product line includes industry standard trench MOSFETs, SRFETs, XSFET, electrostatic discharge, protected MOSFETs, high and mid-voltage MOSFETs and IGBTs. Power IC products In addition to the traditional monolithic or single chip design, the company employs a multi-chip approach for the majority of its power ICs. New Products As of September 30, 2013, the company released seven new power discrete products in its 600V AlphalGBT portfolio with IGBT solutions ranging from 20A to 60A in the TO247 package. These new products are suitable for various applications, including household appliances, commercial HVAC systems, photovoltaic inverters, and industrial equipment. In addition, as of June 30, 2014, the company released new 1350V IGBT optimized for induction heating applications. The device reduces the risk of avalanche destruction from voltage transients. As of December 31, 2013, the company also introduced a new lower voltage dual MOSFET family in the common-drain configuration in both DFN 5x6 and Micro-DFN 3.2x2 packages. As of September 30, 2013, the company introduced a new generation of DrMos power modules. The new device enables higher power density voltage regulator solutions which are used for servers, work stations, graphic cards and high-end desktop personal computer (PC) applications. In addition, the company launched a third-generation power module with an EZPair package. This new device enables high power density voltage regulator solutions which are used for notebook PCs, servers, and graphic cards applications. The company also released dual-channel EZPower Smart Load Switch that delivers up to 6A per channel of continuous current. Distributors and customers The company has direct relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), most of which the company serves through its distributors and original design manufacturers (ODMs). They include Dell Inc., Hewlett-Packard Company, LG Electronics, Inc. and Samsung Group. The company sells to Samsung Group, which accounted for 11.6% of its revenue, as of June 30, 2014. The company’s ODM customers include Compal Electronics, Inc., Foxconn, Quanta Computer Incorporated, Pegatron, Wistron Corporation and AOC International. As of June 30, 2014, the distributors, WPG Holdings Limited accounted for 43.1% and Promate Electronic Co. Ltd. accounted for 21.6% of the company’s revenues. Sales and Marketing The company has offices in Taipei, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul and Sunnyvale, California, complemented by its applications centers in Sunnyvale and Shanghai. Research and Development The company’s research and development expenditures, as of June 30, 2014, included $24.4 million. Intellectual property rights The company has entered into intellectual property licensing agreements with other companies, including Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc. and Giant Sem
