The TransferJet Consortium said it plans to promote a range of products and services incorporating TransferJet technology with the intention of accelerating its adoption throughout the consumer electronics industry. Texmaco Ltd. partnered with the Japanese consortium, comprising Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., Toshiba Corp., Mitsubishi Corp., and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. The new company would operate as a five way Indo-Japanese joint venture, created for the purpose of participating in the qualifying bids for setting up the project as well as the procurement-cum-maintenance contract. Toshiba Corp.'s Storage Systems Division and Wave Systems Corp., in August 2008, announced that they have teamed up to develop standardized full-disk encryption (FDE) solutions. The FDE technology works to secure the disk in case the laptop or drive itself is lost or stolen and secures the data within. Nimbuzz BV, in February 2009, announced a collaboration with Toshiba Corp. to develop optimised versions of Nimbuzz Social Messaging application for its mobile communications division. The company has set up a joint venture in Vietnam for a project to recover heat-trapping biogas from industrial wastewater. International Business Machines Corp., NEC Electronics Corp. and Toshiba Corp. announced that NEC Electronics and Toshiba have extended technology development agreements with IBM to participate in the development of a 28-nanometer (nm), high-k metal gate (HKMG), and low-power chip technology geared for consumer products. In November 2009, Toshiba Corp. announced that the company and its subsidiary Toshiba Semiconductor (Wuxi) Co., Ltd, have an agreement with Nantong Fujitsu Microelectronies Co. Ltd.on forming a manufacturing joint venture in China for the semiconductor back-end process.
