Segments The company has three segments: Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking, and Corporate Services. Consumer Banking segment This segment includes consumer deposit services and activities, wealth management, residential lending and servicing, and capital markets. Deposits and Wealth Management The company’s consumer deposit franchise provides a source of low all-in cost funds and is focused on fostering strong relationships with individual and small and mid-sized size business clients nationwide. Deposit clients could choose to manage their relationship with the company through its omni channel platform, including the Online Financial Center, tablet and mobile applications, phone and email, or the company’s network of financial centers in key Florida metropolitan areas. The company’s World Markets deposit offering provides clients with a toolkit for global diversification, including WorldCurrency deposits denominated in 21 foreign currencies and MarketSafe structured deposits. The company provides financial advisory, planning, brokerage and other wealth management services to its mass-affluent and high net worth clients through the company’s registered broker dealer and registered investment adviser subsidiaries. Residential Lending and Servicing The company originates prime residential loans nationwide through retail lending offices in large metropolitan areas, direct channels, financial centers and correspondent relationships supported by a centrally controlled underwriting, processing and fulfillment infrastructure. The company has expanded its retail and correspondent distribution channels with an emphasis on prime jumbo residential loans, which the company either retains on its balance sheet or sells into the secondary market. These channels and products serve the needs of the company’s core clients and are strategic to its balance sheet growth objectives. The company generates mortgage servicing business through the retention of servicing from its origination activities, whole loan acquisitions, and related servicing activities. The company services a portfolio of both products and investors, including agency and private pools of mortgages secured by properties throughout the United States. During 2014, the company realigned the profile of its servicing business through the strategic sale of its default servicing operations and higher delinquency servicing rights to Ditech Financial LLC. Capital Markets The company supplements organic originations by purchasing loans and securities when those investments have risk-adjusted returns than those the company could originate and retain. The company’s decision to originate, retain, acquire, securitize or sell assets is grounded in its rigorous analytical approach to investing and its disciplined approach to balancing risk against performance. Commercial Banking segment This segment includes commercial deposit services and activities, commercial and commercial real estate lending, commercial finance and mortgage warehouse finance. Commercial Deposits The company continued to increase its emphasis on commercial deposits in 2015 to deepen existing relationships with its various small and mid-size business clients and to attract new commercial clients.
