As of December 31, 2008, the company offered scheduled passenger and cargo services to 116 destinations in 35 countries and territories through a fleet of 123 wide-bodied aircraft. Segments The company’s segments include the airline business segment, which includes its passenger and cargo operations; and the non-airline business segment, which includes mainly catering, ground and aircraft ramp handling services. The company operates computerized reservation systems, and provides related services; operates cargo terminals; operates a computer network for interchange of air cargo related information; and offers information processing, aircraft ramp handling, laundry and dry cleaning, financial, airline catering, aircraft maintenance, ground handling, and aircraft acquisition facilitator services. In addition, it engages in property investment activities; operates as a travel tour operator; and conducts travel reward programs. Significant Events On May 8, 2009, Finnair Oyj announced that with its oneworld alliance partner Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., it is to start code-share flights between Hong Kong and Brisbane in Australia. Finnair flies to Hong Kong daily with Airbus A340 aircraft. Now Finnair can also sell Cathay Pacific operated flights with Finnair flight numbers to Brisbane. Cathay Pacific can sell tickets with its own flight number to Finnair flights from Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London as a connection to its own flights to Australia. On September 16, 2009, BOC Aviation has signed an agreement with Cathay Pacific Airways for the purchase and leaseback of six Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. History Cathay Pacific Airways Limited was founded in 1946.
