Lite-On Technology Corporation (the Corporation) was established in 1989 in Taiwan. The Corporation mainly manufactures and markets computer software, hardware, peripherals and components and monitors, CD-ROMs, laptops, cameras, Internet equipment, system equipment and image-processing equipment. The Corporation merged with Lite-On Electronics, Inc., Silitek Corp and GVC Corp., with the Corporation as the surviving entity. The merger took effect on November 4, 2002, and the Corporation thus assumed all rights and obligations of the three merged companies. Lite-On Electronics, Inc was incorporated in June 1975. It mainly manufactures and sells LED (light-emitting diode) products, power supply switches for computers and communications products. Silitek Corp was incorporated in May 1978. It mainly manufactures and sells keyboards, scanners, printers and related products. GVC Corp was incorporated in December 1979. It mainly manufactures and sells mobile phones, modems, communications products and components of computer equipment. The Corporation merged with Lite-On Communications Corp., with the Corporation as the surviving entity. On November 30, 2001, this merger took effect. Lite_on Technology Corporation is now divided into five Strategic Business Groups (SBGs), following the 2002 merger and reorganization of its four original companies. SBGs Peripherals and Components SBG Peripherals and Components SBG includes four major product lines: keyboard, monitor, SPS (Switching Power Supply), and LED. In addition to ongoing achievements in the field of desktop keyboards, this SBG is actively developing notebook computer keyboards. The total monitor product line shipment in 2002 exceeded 5 million units. Image SBG Image SBG consists of six major product lines that include scanners, scanner modules, printers, multi-function peripherals (MFPs), fax machines and copler scanner modules. To strengthen Lite-On Technology’s Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) position, Imange SBG is chartered to target multi-dimensional customers. Communications SBG Focusing on mobility products, Communications SBG reached and exceeded its original shipment target of 4 million units of 2002 and released GPRS double-band mobile phone in Taiwan. Communications SBG also released a tri-band GPRS mobile phone product. A mobile phone with built-in digital camera is also under development.
