The company’s auto and mobile navigation platform allows the company to deliver improved location-based services to auto manufacturers, developers, and end users through various distribution channels, including wireless carriers. The company’s advertising delivery platform delivers targeted advertising services. The company reports operating results in three business segments: Automotive, Advertising, and Mobile Navigation. For the company’s Automotive segment customers, the company offers its auto and mobile navigation platform services to vehicle manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for distribution with their vehicles. The company’s primary automotive customer, Ford Motor Company (Ford), distributes its embedded, or on-board, product as an optional feature with all of its models in the U.S. The company’s automotive products are included on models manufactured in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, and China, as well as offered in models in South America, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2014, the company entered into an agreement with General Motors Corporation (GM) for integration of its on-board and connected navigation solutions in its vehicles, which the company expects to launch in model year 2017. The company’s relationship with GM also includes its mobile phone-based wireless connectivity, or brought-in, services for vehicles. In January 2015, GM launched the new version of its OnStar RemoteLink mobile application powered by the company’s location-based services platform, which includes mapping and one-box search. In July 2015, the company and Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) announced a partnership for brought-in navigation services where the company’s Scout GPS Link would be available first in the model year 2016 Toyota Tacoma, and subsequently in other Entune Audio Plus equipped model year 2016 Toyota vehicles in the United States. Auto and Mobile Navigation Services Platform The company has developed proprietary technologies that enable it to provide location-based mapping and navigation services. These technologies include both client-based and cloud-based services. The company’s client technologies include a navigation and guidance engine and tools allowing the company to develop and deploy new applications to mobile phones and in vehicles. The company’s back-end cloud services technologies allow it to deliver real-time location-based data for users and third party software developers that adopt the company’s software development kit and application protocol interfaces. The company has developed a platform that allows it to use multiple data providers for navigation, maps, points of interest, traffic and other location-based content services. In 2014, the company acquired skobbler GmbH (skobbler), a provider of technologies that improve the Open Street Map (OSM) mapping data. By combining these technologies with other proprietary Telenav technologies, the company has developed a range of OSM capabilities that allow the company to use these crowd sourced maps for advanced services, such as navigation. The company’s software and client application development processes, which include design, porting and publication processes, allow it to extend the company’s services to different automobiles across various automotive platforms and in-car electronic systems to meet the requirements of automobile manufacturers and OEMs for its on-board and brought-in automotive products. The company’s back-end cloud technologies include its Geographic Information System (GIS) engines for local search, voice recognition, geo alert and advanced geo data aggregation, traffic and a local advertising platform.
