As an integrated telecommunications service provider, the company’s principal services include mobile voice and data telecommunications services based on 3G W-CDMA (wideband code division multiple access) technology and 4G LTE (long-term evolution) technology; fixed-line services, which include telephone services, including local, domestic long-distance and international long-distance fixed-line and voice over Internet protocol (IP) (VoIP) telephone services and interconnection services to other telecommunications companies; broadband Internet access service and other Internet-related services, including IP Television (IPTV) services; data communication services, including leased line services and broadband Internet connection services to institutional customers; credit card processing and other financial services through BC Card Co., Ltd.; and various other services, including satellite service (through KT Sat Co., Ltd.) and information technology, real estate business (through KT Estate Inc.), satellite TV service (through KT Skylife Co., Ltd.), media contents business and network services, such as cloud computing services. Services Mobile Service The company provides mobile services based on W-CDMA technology and LTE technology. It offers HSDPA-based IMT-2000 services, which are third-generation, high-capacity wireless Internet and video multimedia communications services based on W-CDMA wireless network standards. The company also offers 4G LTE services following the termination of its 2G services. The company completed the expansion of its 4G LTE service coverage nationwide in 2012 and commenced providing wideband LTE services in 2013, and commercialized Wideband LTE-A services in 2014. The company began offering ‘Wideband LTE-A X4’ services in January 2015 and also launched ‘GIGA LTE’ services, which links ‘Wideband LTE-A X4’ and its wireless LAN service (Wi-Fi) network to provide a Wi-Fi connection in June 2015. The company competes with SK Telecom Co., Ltd. As of December 31, 2015, the company had approximately 18 million subscribers. The company markets its mobile services primarily through independent dealers located throughout Korea. As of December 31, 2015, there were approximately 2,800 shops managed by the company’s independent dealers. The company has a wholly-owned subsidiary, KT M&S Co., Ltd., which operates approximately 252 customer plazas that engage in mobile service sales activities, as well as provides a shop for a range of other services and products that the company offers. It also operates a Website to promote and advertise its products and services to the general public and in particular to younger customers who are familiar with the Internet. Fixed-line Services The company provides various fixed-line communication services, including various telephone services, broadband and other Internet services and data communication services. Fixed-line Telephone Services: The company utilizes its nationwide telephone network to provide fixed-line telephone services, which consist of local, domestic long-distance, international long-distance services and land-to-mobile interconnection services. Its telephone network includes exchanges, long-distance transmission equipment and fiber optic and copper cables. The company’s domestic long-distance cable network is entirely made up of fiber optic cable and could carry both voice and data transmissions. The company’s lines are connected to exchanges capable of handling digital signal technology. Digital systems permit a range of voice, text, and data applications to be transmitted simultaneously on the same network. Interconnection: Under the Telecommunications Business Act, the company is required to permit other service providers to interconnect to its fixed-line network. The principal users of this interconnection capacity include SK Broadband (SK Broadband Co., Ltd.) and LG U+ (offering local, domestic long-distance and international long-distance services), Sejong (Sejong Telecom, Inc.) and SK Telink (SK Telink, Inc.)
