ConocoPhillips Provides Update on its Angola and Gulf of Mexico Drilling Activities

ConocoPhillips announced the Omosi-1 deepwater exploration well in Block 37 offshore Angola in the Kwanza Basin has been drilled to a total depth of 20,666 feet. A gas column of approximately 525 feet was encountered in the primary objective reservoir. No further activity is planned. The well has been plugged and abandoned. In the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, the Harrier prospect in Mississippi Canyon Block 118 has been drilled to a total depth of 19,400 feet. No commercial hydrocarbons were encountered. The well will be plugged and abandoned. Stone Energy Offshore, L.L.C. was a non-operating co-owner in the Harrier prospect. An after-tax charge relating to the two wells of approximately $142 million net to ConocoPhillips will be recorded to dry hole expense in the first quarter of 2015.

ConocoPhillips Mulls Sale Of Norwegian North Sea Assets

ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) is considering the sale of Norwegian North Sea assets. ConocoPhillips may sell assets that are operated by others, including stakes in the Aasta Hansteen, Alvheim and Grane fields, as per reports. The company is running the sale without advisers, and has contacted potential buyers, which may fetch as much as $1 billion.

ConocoPhillips Reportedly Mulls Sale Of Oil And Gas Assets

ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) is planning to sell some assets. People familiar with the matter stated that the company is preparing the sale of noncore oil and gas producing acreage in the United States. They further added that the company has engaged Wells Fargo to sell some of its noncore U.S. assets, include oil and gas properties in the Rockies, East Texas, South Texas and Northern Louisiana. According to the news report while the value of the assets up for sale could not be known, industry sources said that they expected ConocoPhillips to sell between $1 billion and $2.5 billion worth of noncore assets in the United States. The sources sought anonymity. The report mentioned that a representative of ConocoPhillips declined to comment on this specific asset sale but said, “It is common in the energy business for companies to review, readjust and optimize their portfolio from time to time,” while a Wells Fargo representative declined to comment.
