The Leasing segment provides various leasing services, including equipment, operating, leveraged, and aircraft operating leases. The Securities segment offers financial products, investment consultation, and administration services to individual and corporate customers; and trading capabilities, debt and equity underwriting, and M&A advisory services for corporate customers. The Consumer Finance segment provides various credit cards and its related settlement and financing services; installment, such as shopping credit and automobile loan; collection and factoring services; and consumer loans that consist of unsecured loans to individuals and loan guarantee. Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Sumitomo Mitsui Is Reportedly Near A Deal To Buy General Electric's European PE Finance Business

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (TSE:8316) (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Group) (SMBC) is nearing a deal to buy General Electric Company's (NYSE:GE) European private-equity finance business, according to people familiar with the matter. SMBC is expected to pay more than $2 billion for the unit, known as a sponsors unit and which finances buyouts and other transactions for private-equity firms in Europe, said the people. They added that a deal could be announced as soon as June 30, 2015 in Europe. Sumitomo Mitsui prevailed over other bidders, including Apollo Global Management, LLC (NYSE:APO) and Ares Management, L.P. (NYSE:ARES), they said. A spokesman at SMBC said nothing specific has been decided at this moment.

Sumitomo Mitsui Reportedly Eyes GE Capital Rail Services

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (TSE:8316) is interested in General Electric Company (NYSE:GE)'s General Electric Capital Rail Services Corporation, according to people familiar with the matter. GE Capital Rail Services, which could be worth around $4 billion, also has drawn interest from Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) and other financial institutions, the people said.

Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Mizuho Reportedly Mull Acquisitions

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (TSE:8306), Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (TSE:8316), and Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (TSE:8411) are looking for acquisitions. Financial Times reported that the firms are looking for foreign acquisitions to deliver bigger profits and better shareholder returns. The newspaper stated that both Mitsubishi and Sumitomo are keen to strike deals within 2015.
