Exelis Inc. provides command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, and surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) related products and systems in the United States and internationally. The company’s C4ISR Electronics and Systems segment offers intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems; integrated electronic warfare systems; electronic attack and release systems, including aircraft-armament suspension and release equipment, weapons interface systems, and surveillance aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. This segment also provides radio frequency and acoustic surveillance sensors, integrated radar and precision air traffic control surveillance systems, electronic warfare and signals intelligence systems, and mine sweeping systems; and tactical, mobile satellite, wireless, special mission, mobile ad hoc networking systems, as well as integrated command, control, and communications solutions. In addition it offers night vision products; positioning, navigation, and timing systems; and aerospace assembly structures, and sub-assemblies and components. Its Information and Technical Services segment provides systems integration, network design and development, air traffic management, cyber, intelligence, operations, sustainment, engineering, and space launch and range-support solutions. Exelis Inc. serves the United States (U.S.) Department of Defense and its prime contractors, U.S. Government intelligence agencies, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force, and allied foreign governments, and commercial customers. The company was formerly known as ITT DCO, Inc. and changed its name to Exelis Inc. in July 2011. The company was incorporated in 2011 and is headquartered in McLean, Virginia.

Exelis Inc. Receives $27 Million from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems

Exelis recently received a follow-on contract valued at more than $27 million from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. to continue producing and supplying the BRU-71/A ejector rack for the predator B/MQ-9 Reaper Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) system. Under the contract, Exelis will produce 619 BRU-71/A units for U.S. Government MQ-9s. The BRU-71/A is a pneumatic carriage and release system that uses compressed air rather than pyrotechnic cartridges to deploy payloads. The use of pneumatic technology reduces wear-and-tear and overall system maintenance and life-cycle costs.

Exelis Wins $17 Million Contract to Provide Swedish Subs with Electronic Support Measures Technology

Exelis Inc. won a $17 million contract to provide electronic support measures (ESM) technology and services to Sweden's Navy through a subcontract with shipbuilder Saab. Under the contract, Exelis will provide Swedish submarines with ES-3701 electronic warfare system to boost the fleet's situational awareness, targeting, self-protection and surveillance capabilities.

Exelis Delivers 2,000Th PLM-4 Radar Signal Simulator to US Military and International Customers

Exelis Inc. has delivered the 2,000th AN/PLM-4 Radar Signal Simulator (RSS) to the US military. The AN/PLM-4 [2] is designed to test radar warning receivers on various military aircraft during ground testing by simulating the electronic signals generated by various threats the aircraft could face in a hostile environment. The 2,000th AN/PLM-4 RSS was provided to the Air Force as part of a task order from a previously awarded indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract. Exelis recently announced the award of a $6.3 million order from the same IDIQ contract. The AN/PLM-4 has also been delivered to other branches of the U.S. military and International customers over the course of the 2,000 deliveries. The RSS is a portable radar simulator that tests radar warning receivers, electronic surveillance measures and electronic countermeasures systems. The system tests the detection and identification capabilities of fixed and rotary wing aircraft and can also be used for testing systems on surface ships, submarines and land vehicles against the latest hostile threats.
