Aqua America, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates regulated utilities that provide water or wastewater services in the United States. It offers liquid waste hauling and disposal, and water and wastewater services through operating and maintenance contracts with municipal authorities and other parties. The company also provides water and sewer line repair services, and protection solutions to households; inspects, cleans, and repairs storm and sanitary wastewater lines; installs and tests devices that prevent the contamination of potable water; and designs and builds water and wastewater systems. In addition, it offers non-regulated water and wastewater services; and non-utility raw water supply services for firms in the natural gas drilling industry. The company serves 3 million residential water, commercial water, fire protection, industrial water, wastewater, and other water and utility customers. It has operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Illinois, North Carolina, New Jersey, Indiana, and Virginia. The company was formerly known as Philadelphia Suburban Corporation and changed its name to Aqua America, Inc. in 2004. Aqua America, Inc. was founded in 1968 and is based in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

Aqua America, Inc. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2015

Aqua America Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the second quarter, the company reported income from continuing operations of $57.382 million, which is up 4.7% from $54.818 million in 2014. Basic and diluted income from continuing operations per share was $0.32 for the quarter, compared to $0.31 for the same quarter in 2014. Operating revenues increased to $205.760 million, or 5.4%, compared to $195.307 million for the second quarter of 2014. Net income attributable to common shareholders was $57.382 million against $55.569 million a year ago. Basic and diluted net income per common share was $0.32 against $0.31 a year ago. Operating income was $80.246 million against $79.934 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $62.301 million against $60.667 million a year ago. For the year-to-date, the company reported income from continuing operations of $105.927 million, which is up 9% from $97.219 million for the same time frame in 2014. Basic and diluted income from continuing operations per share rose to $0.60, which is an increase of 9.1% from the $0.55 reported in 2014. Operating revenues increased 4.8% to $396.086 million, and compares favorably to the $377.979 million reported in the first six months of 2014. Net income attributable to common shareholders was $105.927 million against $98.428 million a year ago. Diluted net income per common share was $0.60 against $0.55 a year ago. In the first six months of 2015, as part of its capital investment plan, the company has invested approximately $150.1 million to improve its infrastructure systems. Operating income was $151.413 million against $146.704 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $115.440 million against $108.260 million a year ago. The company expects to invest more than $325 million by the end of the year 2015, and more than $1 billion over the next three years. The capital investments made in the infrastructure of the communities Aqua serves are key to helping the company accomplish its mission of delivering safe, reliable water and wastewater services to its customers. For the guidance for 2015, the company expects earnings to be in the range of $1.25 to $1.27. On the market-based side, company expects to see 2015 revenue increase to $30 million. Finally, expects to see the same-store O&M to grow between 2% and 4% for the full year of 2015.
