renewable energy generation (WIND) Key Developments

Renewable Energy Generation Limited Extends Contracts with National Grid to Provide Short Term Operating Reserve Through Existing 26MW Bio-Power Plants in the UK

Renewable Energy Generation Limited, announce it has successfully extended its contracts with National Grid to provide Short Term Operating Reserve through its existing 26 MW bio-power plants in the UK. STOR allows the UK's National Grid to source reserve power in specified periods to meet demand when greater than forecast, or shortfalls in generation such as during unexpected plant downtime. REG has extended its contract on 8 MW of its bio-power plants for a further 12 months until March 2017. The contract for its 18 MW bio-power plant at Whitemoor has been extended by six months to October 2016, allowing for a more flexible contracting strategy across the 2016 winter period for this project. REG Bio-Power's plants are fuelled by a patented, proprietary bioliquid derived from used cooking oil and so are eligible for support under the Renewables Obligation mechanism. In addition to the 26 MW already operational, REG also has a further 68 MW of bio-power capacity at various stages of development.

Renewable Energy Generation Limited Receives Approval for New 8MW Wind Farm in UK

Renewable Energy Generation Limited announced that planning permission has been granted for the company's 8MW Mynydd Brombil Wind Farm in Neath Port Talbot. This project is in addition to REG's five consented UK onshore wind farm sites which have a combined capacity of 38MW and are due to be delivered over the coming 18 months. REG's strategy is to increase its existing 111MW of operational UK renewable energy projects across wind, bio-power and solar to 300MW within three years. The project comprises four wind turbines with an expected installed capacity of 8MW. The Planning Inspectorate's grant of planning permission, following a public inquiry held during May 2015, is subject to the usual six week legal challenge period. The company is currently in discussions with the Department of Energy and Climate Change on the Project's eligibility for the proposed revision to grace periods under the Renewable Obligation regime.

Renewable Energy Generation Limited Enters into Agreement with Gamesa Eolica, S.L. to Supply 19 Wind Turbines

Renewable Energy Generation Limited announced that it has entered into agreements with Gamesa Eolica, S.L. to supply 19 wind turbines for five of REG's consented UK onshore wind farm sites. These have a combined capacity of 38MW and once commissioned, will more than double REG's total wind power capacity to 72.7MW. The new projects, which are due to be delivered over the coming 18 months, are in line with the company's strategy to operate a diversified portfolio of 300MW of UK renewable energy projects, which includes wind, solar and biopower, within three years.
