The company holds interests in various projects located in New South Wales include Tarrawonga and Rocglen open cut mines, Maules Creek project, Canyon project, Narrabri north mine project, and Werris Creek mine, as well as development project, such as Vickery project. It also owns interests in various other exploration and potential development projects in Queensland and New South Wales. As of August 27, 2014, the company had 888 Mt of recoverable coal reserves; and 801 Mt of marketable coal reserves. It serves customers in China, India, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Australia, and internationally. The company was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Sydney, Australia.

Whitehaven Coal Limited Announces Narrabri Mine Production Results for the Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2015

Whitehaven Coal Limited announced Narrabri mine production results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company’s run of mine (ROM) coal production for the quarter was 2.7 Mt, up 57% compared to 1.7 Mt in the quarter ended June 30, 2014. Saleable coal production for the quarter was 2.3 Mt, with coal sales of 2.2 Mt. For the year, the company’s ROM and saleable coal production in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015 were 7.7 Mt and 7.2 Mt respectively, 36% and 37% higher than the previous fiscal year.

Whitehaven Coal Limited Announces Board Changes

Whitehaven Coal Limited announced changes to the company’s board of directors. Rick Gazzard has resigned as a Director of Whitehaven. Rick joined the Whitehaven board in May 2012 at the time of the merger with Aston Resources. Whitehaven has benefitted from Rick’s extensive operating experience over the last three years as Narrabri increased production and the Maules Creek project was constructed. Joining the Board as a new independent non-executive Director is Julie Beeby. Julie was most recently CEO of Westside Corporation, a coal seam gas producer in Queensland.

Whitehaven Coal Limited Provides Update on the Narrabri Mine

Whitehaven Coal Limited announced that the Narrabri Mine has established coal production of 2.18Mt for the quarter to March 31, 2015. Saleable coal production for the quarter was 1.795Mt and coal sales were 1.643Mt. Year-to-date ROM and saleable coal production were 5.032Mt and 4.847Mt, 27% and 26% respectively higher than for the same period the previous year. Strong performance by the longwall in the current production panel has resulted in Whitehaven Coal upgrading guidance for production from the Narrabri Mine for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015 to between 7.0Mt and 7.2Mt ROM coal from 6.5Mt previously.
