The company operates through three segments, Kratos Government Solutions (KGS), Unmanned Systems, and Public Safety & Security (PSS). The Kratos Government Solutions segment offers command, control, communications, computing, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) products; solutions; and services. This segment provides electronic warfare/attack and intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance; satellite command and control, communications support, signal monitoring, interference detection, and geolocation; ballistic missile defense test and evaluation; cyber and IT; learning, performance, and training solutions; and weapon systems services. It also manufactures specialized modular systems, tactical combat products, shelters, and enclosures; command and control modular systems; weapons systems; and warfighter related systems. The Unmanned Systems segment offers composite unmanned aerial target drone systems; and supplies UAS platforms with sensors, avionics, and electronic components. This segment also manufactures and provides avionics systems and ground flight control systems, as well as command, control, and communications systems for various unmanned ground and seaborne, platforms and systems. The Public Safety and Security segment offers integrated security solutions for homeland security, public safety, and critical infrastructure; and strategic assets for government, industrial, and commercial customers. This segment provides its solutions in various areas, such as the command and control centers; and access control, building automation and control, communications, digital and closed circuit television security and surveillance, fire and life safety, maintenance, services, and product support services. The company was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in San Diego, California.

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. Wins Ground System Contracts for Thaicom 8 Satellite

Thaicom has awarded Kratos Defense and Security Solutions with two contracts for ground systems to support the upcoming Thaicom 8 satellite. The first contract is for a Satellite Control Center. Kratos Integral Systems International (ISI) will provide the satellite control system based on the company's Epoch command and control and Oasys flight dynamics solutions. The Epoch Integrated Product Suite (IPS) is an all-in-one satellite fleet management system with the ability to simultaneously control multiple satellites from different manufacturers from a single consolidated system. Kratos ISI's U.K team will provide the Tracking, Telemetry and Command (TT&C) earth station, which will include an 11 meter C-band turning head antenna with a monopulse tracking system and fully redundant RF system. Procured through the second contract, the system will support both nominal on-station and emergency TT&C operations with a frequency-agile RF system and continuous wide-angle steering, combined with pointing and tracking from its precision drives system. Built by Orbital ATK on the GeoStar 2 platform, the Thaicom 8 satellite will carry 24 Ku-band transponders to serve customers in Thailand, South Asia and Africa. The satellite is schedule to launch in the first half of 2016 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 29, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for Second Quarter, Third Quarter, Fourth Quarter and Full Year of 2015

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 29, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $182.5 million against $200.1 million a year ago. Operating loss was $1.5 against operating income of $3.3 million a year ago. Loss from continuing operations before income taxes was $14.1 million against $12.6 million a year ago. Loss from continuing operations was $16.5 million against $14.9 million a year ago. Net loss was $16.3 million against $15.0 million a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per common share from continuing operations and net loss per share was $0.28 against $0.26 a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $11.6 million against $16.9 million a year ago. Total operating loss from continuing operations was $1.5 million against $3.3 million operating income from continuing operations a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities from continuing operations was $2.9 million against cash flow from operating activities from continuing operations of $1.7 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $2.2 million against $3.1 million a year ago. Net cash flows from continuing operations were $0.2 million against cash used in continuing operations of $1.6 million a year ago. Adjusted loss from continuing operations before income taxes was $4.5 million against $3.2 million a year ago. Adjusted loss from continuing operations was $5.2 million against $3.9 million a year ago. Diluted adjusted loss from continuing operations per share was $0.09 against $0.07 a year ago. The company expects gross margins, adjusted EBITDA margins, overall profitability and liquidity to continue to improve throughout 2015. Total estimated CapEx for 2015 is $15 million to $19 million with the most significant investment being in unmanned business as will be manufacturing an increased number of aircraft for expected customer presentation requirements and includes production of UCAS aircraft. The company expects second quarter adjusted EBITDA of approximately $14 million to $17 million. The company expects revenue and EBITDA to continue to increase in third quarter, driven by increased product deliveries and execution on under contract programs. The company expects fourth quarter revenue and EBITDA to approximate or be slightly higher than previous year. The company will continue to make investments from an IR&D and CapEx perspective and certain of electronic products, satellite communications in unmanned systems businesses.
