Wisconsin Energy Corporation, through its subsidiaries, generates and distributes electric energy. The company operates in two segments, Utility Energy and Non-Utility Energy. It generates electricity from coal, natural gas, oil, hydro electric, wind, and biomass. The company provides electric utility services to customers in the paper, foundry, food products, and machinery production industries, as well as to the retail chains. It also provides retail gas distribution services in the state of Wisconsin, as well as transports customer-owned gas to paper, food products, and fabricated metal products industries; and generates, distributes, and sells steam. In addition, the company invests in and develops real estate, including business parks and other commercial real estate projects primarily in southeastern Wisconsin. The company was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Energy Corp. Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter and Year Ended December 31, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the First Quarter and Year of 2015

Wisconsin Energy Corp. announced consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported operating revenues of $1,225.1 million against $1,178.3 million a year ago. Operating income was $243.5 million against $271.6 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $198.2 million against $230.8 million a year ago. Net income was $121.4 million or $0.53 per diluted share against $144.3 million or $0.63 per diluted share a year ago. Adjusted earnings were 56 cents a share. For the year, the company reported operating revenues of $4,997.1 million against $4,519.0 million a year ago. Operating income was $1,112.1 million against $1,080.1 million a year ago. Income before income taxes was $950.0 million against $915.3 million a year ago. Net income was $588.3 million or $2.59 per diluted share against $577.4 million or $2.51 per diluted share a year ago. Cash provided by operating activities was $1,197.7 million against $1,231.0 million a year ago. Capital expenditures were $736.1 million against $687.4 million a year ago. Adjusted earnings were 2.65 cents a share. The company expects first quarter adjusted earnings in 2015 to be in a range of $0.79 to $0.81 a share. The company estimates that stand-alone effective tax rate in 2015 will be between 37% and 38%.

Wisconsin Energy Mulls Acquisitions

Wisconsin Energy Corp. (NYSE:WEC) intends to pursue acquisitions. The company will use three criteria to evaluate any potential acquisition opportunity. The criteria are that the company would have to believe that acquisition would be accretive to EPS in first full calendar year after closing, would need to be largely credit neutral and would have to believe that long-term growth rate of any acquisition would be at least equal to Wisconsin Energy's standalone growth rate.
