Veresen Inc. owns and operates energy infrastructure assets in North America. It operates in three segments: Pipeline, Midstream, and Power. The Pipeline segment owns a 50% interest in the Alliance Pipeline, an integrated pipeline system consisting of approximately 3,000 kilometer high pressure natural gas mainline pipeline located in Canada and the United States; a series of lateral pipelines located in Canada; the Tioga Lateral pipeline project located in North Dakota; and related infrastructure. This segment also owns a 50% convertible preferred interest in the Ruby Pipeline, a 680-mile natural gas transmission pipeline; and a 100% interest in the Alberta Ethane Gathering System, a 1,330 kilometer pipeline that transports ethane within Alberta from various ethane extraction plants to petrochemical complexes located near Joffre and Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The Midstream segment operates the Hythe/Steeprock midstream gas gathering and processing complex in northern Alberta and British Columbia; and a natural gas liquids (NGL) extraction and fractionation facility that recovers ethane, propane, normal butane, iso-butane, and natural gasoline located at Channahon, Illinois. This segment also operates downstream distribution and gas facilities; NGL injection facilities in Alberta and British Columbia; and off-gas processing facility in Alberta. In addition, the Midstream segment owns the Palermo Conditioning Plant and the Prairie Rose Pipeline located in the Bakken region of North Dakota. The Power segment engages in the hydroelectric, natural gas, waste heat, wind, and biomass generation activities in Canada and the United States; and district energy systems in Ontario. The company was formerly known as Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P. and changed its name to Veresen Inc. in January 2011. Veresen Inc. was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.

Veresen Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, operating revenue was CAD 37.3 million against CAD 79.6 million a year ago. Net income before tax was CAD 4.8 million against CAD 0.3 million a year ago. Net income from continuing operations was CAD 5.2 million against CAD 2.0 million a year ago. Net loss attributable to common shares was CAD 11.6 million or CAD 0.04 per basic and diluted share against CAD 2.4 million or CAD 0.01 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Cash provided by continuing operations was CAD 100.7 million against CAD 49.5 million a year ago. . Adjusted net income was CAD 11.9 million or CAD 0.04 per share for second quarter compared to an adjusted net loss of CAD 2.5 million or CAD 0.01 per share in second quarter of 2014, reflecting increased earnings from its pipeline business, partially offset by reduced Midstream earnings. The increase in second quarter adjusted pipeline earnings includes CAD 27.9 million of dividend income from the Ruby Pipeline, and increased equity income from Alliance. For the six months, operating revenue was CAD 109.5 million against CAD 166.3 million a year ago. Net income before tax was CAD 80.0 million against CAD 50.8 million a year ago. Net income from continuing operations was CAD 58.9 million against CAD 39.4 million a year ago. Net loss attributable to common shares was CAD 38.0 million or CAD 0.17 per basic and diluted share against CAD 29.9 million or CAD 0.15 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Cash provided by continuing operations was CAD 134.0 million against CAD 96.4 million a year ago.
