vishay intertechnology inc (VSH) Details

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. manufactures and supplies discrete semiconductors and passive components in the United States, Europe, and Asia. The company operates in five segments: MOSFETs, Diodes, Optoelectronic Components, Resistors & Inductors, and Capacitors. The MOSFETs segment offers low- and medium-voltage TrenchFET MOSFETs, high-voltage planar MOSFETs, high voltage Super Junction MOSFETs, power integrated circuits, and integrated function power devices. The Diodes segment provides rectifiers, small signal diodes, protection diodes, thyristors/silicon-controlled rectifiers, and power modules. The Optoelectronic Components segment offers standard and customer specific optoelectronic components, such as infrared (IR) emitters and detectors, IR remote control receivers, optocouplers, solid-state relays, optical sensors, light-emitting diodes, 7-segment displays, and IR data transceiver modules. The Resistors & Inductors segment provides film, wirewound, power metal strip, crowbar and steel blade, variable, and non-linear resistors, as well as battery management shunts, thermo fuses, chip fuses, pryotechnic initiators/ignitors, networks/arrays, magnetics, and connectors. The Capacitors segment offers tantalum, ceramic, film, power, heavy-current, and aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The company’s semiconductor components are used for power control, power conversion, power management, signal switching, signal routing, signal blocking, signal amplification, two-way data transfer, one-way remote control, and circuit isolation functions; and passive components are used to restrict current flow, suppress voltage increases, store and discharge energy, control alternating current and voltage, filter out unwanted electrical signals, and perform other functions. It serves industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, military, power supplies, aerospace, and medical markets. The company was founded in 1962 and is headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

vishay intertechnology inc (VSH) Key Developments

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. Introduces New Miniature Plastic Housing

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has expanded its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of a miniature plastic housing for the rapid prototyping of reflective presence and proximity sensors. The housing is uniquely designed to provide optical isolation between a 3 mm (T1) infrared (IR) emitter and any of Vishay's TSSP-type presence or proximity sensors. For reflective sensor applications like automatic hand dryers, automatic towel dispensers, toys, and vending machines, optical isolation between the emitter and sensor is an absolute necessity. With their extremely high sensitivity, Vishay Semiconductors TSSP sensors can be inadvertently activated by even very small light leakage. To prevent this, designers have traditionally had to spend valuable time constructing their own mechanical housings and light isolation. To speed up prototyping and enable small production runs, Vishay's TSSP-HA plastic housing provides designers with the optical isolation they require, while aligning the emitter and sensor leads on standard breadboard grids. In addition, the cavity on each side of the holder is designed with a recessed top edge for cover pieces, simplifying the task of designing an aperture for the sensor or aiming tube for the emitter, if required. Capable of withstanding wave soldering temperatures on the opposite side of the PCB, the TSSP-HA is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. Enhances T55 Series of vPolyTan Surface-Mount Polymer Tantalum Molded Chip Capacitors

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. announced that the company has enhanced its T55 series of vPolyTan surface-mount polymer tantalum molded chip capacitors with eight new ratings in the A, B, and T (low-profile B – 1.2 mm max.) case sizes. Taking advantage of Vishay’s package technology and recent investments in polymer tantalum technology, the Vishay Polytech T55 series now offers significantly higher capacitance and lower ESR for computer, telecom, and industrial applications. At 2.5 V, capacitors in the B case now offer higher capacitance to 470 µF with ESR of 25 mO, in addition to lower ESR of 25 mO at a capacitance of 330 µF. At 6.3 V, devices in the A and T case sizes provide improved ESR of 70 mO at 100 µF, while B case devices feature lower ESR of 40 mO at 33 µF and 35 mO at 220 µF. At 10 V, devices in the B case size offer enhanced ESR of 70 mO at 47 µF. The low ESR of the T55 capacitors is a result of their polymer cathodes, which offer greatly enhanced performance over manganese dioxide devices. In addition, the devices offer excellent ripple current rating up to 2.28 A IRMS and provide low internal resistance for enhanced charge and discharge characteristics. The capacitors are optimized for power management, battery decoupling, and energy storage in computers, tablets, smartphones, wireless cards, and solid state drives. Offered in the compact J, P, A, B, and T case sizes, the T55 series features a wide capacitance range from 3.3 µF to 470 µF over voltage ratings from 2.5 V to 10 V, and a capacitance tolerance of ± 20 %. The devices provide ultra-low ESR from 500 mO down to 25 mO at +25 °C and 100 kHz and operate over a temperature range of -55 °C to +105 °C with voltage derating above +85 °C. Featuring lead (Pb)-free terminations, T55 series capacitors are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green. The devices are compatible with high-volume automatic pick-and-place equipment and offer a Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) of 3. Samples and production quantities of the enhanced T55 series devices are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
