Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures and sells automobiles primarily in Europe, North America, South America, and the Asia-Pacific. The company operates through four segments: Passenger Cars, Commercial Vehicles, Power Engineering, and Financial Services. The Passenger Cars segment develops vehicles and engines; and produces and sells passenger cars and genuine parts. The Commercial Vehicles segment develops, produces, and sells light commercial vehicles, and trucks and buses, as well as offers parts and related services. The Power Engineering segment develops and produces large-bore diesel engines, turbo compressors, industrial turbines, and chemical reactor systems, as well as produces gear units, propulsion components, and testing systems. The Financial Services segment offers dealer and customer financing, leasing, banking and insurance, fleet management, and mobility services. It also offers motorcycles. Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft provides its products under the Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, ŠKODA, SEAT, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Scania, and MAN brand names, as well as financial services under the Volkswagen Financial Services brand name. The company has a co-operation with Daimler AG to produce Crafter delivery van. Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft is based in Wolfsburg, Germany.

Volkswagen Group Reports Global Sales Results for the Month of July 2015

Volkswagen Group has reported a decrease in global sales in the month of July 2015. The company reported a decrease in total group deliveries of 3.7% to 792,100 in July 2015, compared to the year-ago period.

Volkswagen AG Plans to Enter Korean Market

Volkswagen AG is planning to enter Korea as early as the end of 2015, The automaker has not revealed the exact launch date, the models to be imported or the prices of the vehicles.

Volkswagen to Invest USD 30 Million in an Assembly Plant and Training Institute at Kuliyapitiya

Volkswagen announced that the company to invest USD 30 million in an assembly plant and a training institute at Kuliyapitiya. The assembly will be based in a 30 acre land at Kuliyapitiya. Initially they will assemble 500 units to supply to the local market and the training centre would train more than 2,000 skilled personnel on a request made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe. Under this agreement the investors will assemble vehicles in the 1,000 cc to 2,000 cc category, which will be diesel powered and including passenger cars, sports utility vehicles, multi utility vehicles or commercial vehicles. Chairman BOI Upul Jayasuriya said that total value of this project will be an investment of USD 26.5 million of which USD 21 million will be invested in fixed assets within a period of 24 months, while USD 5 million would be borrowed capital for the project. This investment is a land mark investment for the BOI's 30 years history and a giant step for the Sri Lanka's march towards industrialisation. Providing employment opportunities for 200 persons with high skilled technical knowledge and exposure, he said.
