The company also provides M-PESA, a money transfer service that enables customers with limited access to bank accounts to send and receive money, top-up airtime, and make bill payments; smartphones and tablets; and mHealth solutions for healthcare providers. In addition, it offers hosting and cloud services, including managed hosting solutions, as well as cloud computing, co-location, server and Website hosting, storage, and security. The company serves approximately 434 million mobile and 9 million fixed broadband customers. It sells and distributes its products through approximately 14,500 branded stores comprising franchises and a network of distribution partners, as well as third party retailers. Vodafone Group Plc was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Newbury, the United Kingdom.

Vodafone Group Signs New Partner Market Agreement with Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited

Vodafone Group has signed of a new partner market agreement with Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited, enabling the latter to enhance its customer proposition in Botswana with Vodafone's products and services. Under the non-equity partnership agreement, the two companies will jointly offer business and consumer customers a range of products and services. According to the Vodafone, its multinational corporate customers will benefit from the addition of Botswana to their existing contracts for international managed services, while continuing to be serviced via a single point of contact. BTC will be able to access Vodafone's global data reach and a competitive cost base for its customers international calls.

Vodafone Group Plc Announces Board Changes

Vodafone Group Plc announced the appointment of Dr. Mathias Döpfner as a Non-Executive Director with effect from April 1, 2015. Dr. Döpfner is Chairman and CEO of Axel Springer SE in Berlin. He was visiting professor in media at the University of Cambridge and became a member of St John's College in 2010. Separately, the company also announced that Luc Vandevelde will stand down from the Board with effect from the company's Annual General Meeting on July 28, 2015. Philip Yea will be appointed as Senior Independent Director with effect from the Annual General Meeting and Val Gooding will chair the Remuneration Committee - and become a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee - with effect from the same date.

Vodafone Group Mulls Acquisition Of Vodacom

Vodafone Group Public Limited Company (LSE:VOD) is seeking acquisition of Vodacom Group Limited (JSE:VOD) from South African government. Vittorio Colao, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Group Public Limited Company, has revealed that despite speculation that the South African government is planning to sell its 13.9% stake in Vodacom to fund energy utility Eskom, Vittorio Colao has had no discussions with government leaders on the subject, as reported by BusinessTech. Vittorio Colao reportedly hinted that Vodafone Group Public Limited Company is open to talks with the South African government regarding a proposed sale. 'I personally haven't had any discussion on that topic. We are happy where we are. We are happy with the current situation. Having said that we would be open to discussions,” Vittorio Colao executive was cited as saying.
