The company's virtualization infrastructure solutions include a suite of products designed to deliver a software-defined data center (SDDC), run on industry-standard desktop computers and servers, and support a range of operating system and application environments, as well as networking and storage infrastructures. Its solutions enable organizations to aggregate multiple servers, storage infrastructure, and networks together into shared pools of capacity. It offers VMware vSphere, a SDDC platform, which enables users to deploy hypervisor, a layer of software that resides between the operating system and system hardware to enable compute virtualization; storage and availability products that provides data storage and protection options; network and security products; and management and automation products to manage and automate overarching IT processes involved in provisioning IT services and resources to users from initial infrastructure deployment to retirement. The company also offers SDDC suites, such as VMware vCloud Suite, VMware vSphere with Operations Management, and VMware vRealize suite for building and managing a complete cloud infrastructure for use with the VMware vSphere platform. In addition, it provides hybrid cloud computing solutions, including VMware vCloud Air, VMware vCloud Air Network Service Providers, and vCloud Air Business Ventures; and end-user computing solutions, which enables IT organizations to deliver secure access to data, applications, and devices to end users. VMware, Inc. sells its products through distributors, resellers, system vendors, and systems integrators. The company was incorporated in 1998 and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California. VMware, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of EMC Corporation.

VMware Appoints Shekar Ayyar and Sanjay Mirchandani as New Corporate Senior Vice Presidents

VMware appointed Shekar Ayyar and Sanjay Mirchandani as new Corporate Senior Vice Presidents, effective immediate. Both Ayyar and Mirchandani will report to VMware's president and COO, Carl Eschenbach. Ayaar joined VMware in 2007 and presently he leads the company's strategic and corporate development efforts. Ayyar is responsible for aligning strategy and long-term planning across all the businesses of the firm and also managing company's mergers, acquisitions and strategic investments. With the new roles allotted, now Ayyar will also lead development of a Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) vertical market team within VMware. Mirchandani joined VMWare in 2013 and currently he leads the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. He is responsible for growth and strategic business plans across APJ. Before VMWare, Mirchandani has worked with EMC where he was the EVP of Global Enterprise Services, CIO of the company and COO of Global Centers of Excellence. He has worked in senior roles at Microsoft too.

VMware, Inc. Announces General Availability of VMware VSphere 6, VMware Integrated OpenStack and VMware Virtual San 6

VMware, Inc. announced the general availability of the unified platform for the hybrid cloud featuring VMware vSphere(R) 6, VMware Integrated OpenStack, VMware Virtual SAN(TM) 6, VMware vSphere Virtual Volumes(TM), VMware vCloud(R) Suite 6, and VMware vSphere with Operations Management(TM) 6. VMware's unified platform enables customers to produce a consistent environment across the private and public cloud and to run, protect and manage modern or traditional applications, and spans the following solutions. VMware vSphere 6 delivers breakthrough new capabilities to address the unique needs of business-critical and cloud-native applications. In addition to higher performance, scale and consolidation ratios, VMware vSphere 6 also re-defines infrastructure and application service-levels and availability. Long distance vMotion, multi-processor fault tolerance, Instant Clone technology, and 3D graphics for desktop virtualization, are some of the more than 650 new features and capabilities available in VMware vSphere 6. VMware Integrated OpenStack is a full OpenStack distribution that enables organizations to quickly and cost-effectively provide developers with open APIs to access VMware's enterprise-class infrastructure. VMware packages, tests and supports all components of the distribution, including the open source OpenStack code, and provides the distribution free of charge to VMware vSphere customers. VMware, Inc. Announces General Availability of vCloud Air in Germany

VMware, Inc. announced the expansion of VMware vCloud Air in Europe with the general availability of service in Frankfurt, Germany. Complementing VMware's UK location and the vCloud Air Network™ of service providers, the new VMware-operated German data center provides customers with a Central European location that helps to address German and EU compliance and data protection regulations, while enabling them to take advantage of VMware's enterprise-class cloud. VMware vCloud Air can integrate seamlessly with a company's current IT infrastructure, giving the ease and flexibility to extend applications into the public cloud as and when additional capacity is needed. The resulting hybrid cloud is compatible with existing enterprise applications, and also makes it easy to build new cloud-native applications, delivering businesses greater agility and efficiency in a more secure, reliable and compliant manner. IT departments can view, manage and operate this "best of both worlds" cloud environment in a unified way using the VMware vSphere platform they already know and trust. The same study also revealed that 65% of the IT decision makers in Germany consider a hybrid cloud environment as critical in helping their organization achieve its business goals and compete effectively in 2020. The new VMware vCloud Air location in Frankfurt can enable customers to store their data at a location that addresses German and EU compliance and data protection standards.
