Vicwest Inc. manufactures and distributes building construction products and steel containment products for agricultural grain, fertilizer, and liquid storage applications in North America and internationally. Its Vicwest Building Products division fabricates and markets building construction products, including metal roofing, siding, and insulated metal panels under the Vicwest, Mercury Metals, Valley Truss & Metal, All Weather, and RCA Metal trade names. This division serves industrial, commercial, and institutional construction markets, as well as the agricultural, light commercial, and residential renovation markets. The company’s Westeel Storage Solutions division manufactures storage solutions and systems for agricultural grain and fertilizer, as well as for liquid storage tanks and accessories under the Westeel, Northern Steel Industries, NSI, and PTM Technology trade names. This division offers steel containment products to farm co-operatives, retail chains, and independent dealers in agricultural markets; and liquid storage products and above-ground water storage systems to oil and gas companies, as well as to forestry, agriculture, and institutional customers through commercial and retail distributors. Vicwest Inc. also engineers, designs, and manufactures various automated grain handling systems comprising chain and belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and grain sampling and dust collection equipment, as well as engages in the steel deck and exterior metal cladding business activities. The company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Oakville, Canada.

Vicwest Inc. announced consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, revenue was $100.5 million against $84.9 million a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $3.6 million against adjusted LBITDA of $2.6 million a year ago. Net loss was $0.6 million against $3.1 million a year ago. Net loss per basic and diluted share was $0.10 against $0.18 a year ago. The company had net debt of $117.2 million at March 31, 2015, compared to $101.2 million at December 31, 2014. On a year-over-year basis, net debt decreased by $2.0 million due to improved cash flow from operating activities. The company $1.4 million used to fund CapEx. Results for the first quarter were strong across both divisions driven by increased sales volumes, improved recovery of early 2014 steel cost increases, and improved operating performance. Revenue growth in the quarter reflected strong international sales and steel cost pass-through implemented in the latter part of 2014.
