Umicore Earnings Results for the First Half of 2015; Provides D&A Guidance for the Second Half Year of 2015; Provides CapEx Guidance for the Full Year of 2015

Umicore announced earnings results for the first half of 2015. For the period, the company reported revenues were well up compared to a year ago. The 12% increase in revenues primarily reflect strong volume growth in Catalysis and Energy & Surface Technologies. Recurring EBITDA increased by EUR 39 million year-on-year, which beats the recurring EBIT growth of EUR 33 million. Recurring net profit grew faster than recurring EBIT, driven mainly by positive ForEx impacts on received dividends, corresponding to a recurring earnings per share of EUR 1.20 for the first 6 months. Operating cash flow before changes in working capital increased by close to 40% year-on-year. The difference with previous periods is that business expansion has reversed the working capital trend with a EUR 78 million increase in working capital over the first 6 months of this year. And this increase was tempered by a release of working capital needs in the discontinued operation in the zinc units. The company spent capital expenditure of EUR 100 million. The company expects a somewhat higher D&A charge in the second half of 2015 compared to the EUR 89 million incurred in the first half as new plants and production lines are commissioned. With the many expansion projects firmly underway, and in some cases, even accelerated, the company currently still expect to spend approximately EUR 280 million on CapEx over the full year 2015.
