Texas Instruments Incorporated Introduces PGA900 New Resistive Sensing Signal Conditioner

Texas Instruments Incorporated has introduced the PGA900 new resistive sensing signal conditioner, enabling 24-bit measurement of conditions such as pressure, strain, flow or liquid levels. The PGA900 signal conditioner offers a programmable core, enabling flexible linearization and temperature compensation for numerous resistive bridge sensing applications. The PGA900 integrates two low-noise 24-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to enable high-resolution signal acquisition, a 14-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to provide highly linear analog outputs, and a variety of output interfaces, including analog voltage, 4-20 mA current loop, SPI, I2C, UART, and one-wire interface (OWI), to give designers options for different application needs. The PGA900's integrated power management accepts external power supply voltages from 3.3 V to 30 V. The key features and benefits of the PGA900 resistive sensing conditioner include: low-drift voltage reference of 10 ppm/oC, maximum, enables high accuracy across the -40oC to 150oC operating temperature range; enables highly linear analog outputs; integrated ARM Cortex-M0 core that allows developers to use proprietary temperature and nonlinearity compensation algorithms to differentiate their end products; one-wire interface which allows communication, configuration and calibration through the power supply pin without using additional lines; and integrated power management circuitry that accepts input voltages ranging from 3.3 V to 30 V to simplify the design and provide reliability.

Texas Instruments Announces New Sitara AM4376 Processor

Texas Instruments Inc. announced the new Sitara AM4376 processor offering an ARM Cortex-A9-based solution. This 300 MHz processor extends the Sitara processor portfolio with a scalable, pin-compatible processor that's an economical option for customers looking to benefit from the peripherals in the Sitara AM437x family. The AM437x processors integrate support for industrial protocols for automation and industrial drives making them ideal for applications such as building automation, telecom infrastructure, industrial tools, and more. The Sitara AM437x processors is offered in commercial (0 to 90C), industrial (-40 to 90C) and extended (-40 to 105C) junction temperature ranges. It comes with four pin compatible and software compatible processor options: AM4376, AM4377, AM4378 and AM4379. The AM437x family has offerings in 300MHz, 800MHz and 1GHz options and well as optional 3D graphics acceleration for enhanced user interfaces. As part of the Sitara AM437x family, the new AM4376 processor contains a programmable real-time unit, industrial communications subsystem (PRU-ICSS) that offloads tasks from the ARM so developers can save cost and differentiate their designs. Developers can evaluate the Sitara AM437x processors with the AM437x evaluation module (EVM) or the AM437x industrial development kit (IDK) and decide which Sitara AM437x variant is best for their application. Developers also have access to software support including TI's Processor SDK for Linux, as well as Industrial software development kit for EtherCAT and position feedback control. Adeneo Embedded, a TI Design Network partner, is now offering Android KitKat 4.4.4 for AM437x. The Sitara AM437x processors are now available for order entry at TI authorized distributors, including the new AM4376BZDND30 processor which sells for $7 in volume quantities. The AM437x EVM for general purpose (TMDXEVM437X) is available on the TI Store and through distribution for $599. The Industrial Development kit (TMDXIDK437X) is also available from the TI Store for $329.

Texas Instruments Inc. Introduces the First Brushed DC Gate Driver with Adjustable Current Drive Capability for Scalable Designs

Texas Instruments introduced an integrated gate driver that offers adjustable gate drive settings with the flexibility to drive a wide range of external field-effect transistors (FETs), supporting multiple motors, speeds or varying loads. The DRV8701 enables designers to scale their platforms using a single gate driver across various brushed DC motor models in equipment such as white goods, household appliances, robotics, home automation, power tools, and industrial pumps and valves. With its adjustable gate drive, advanced protection features and other integrated components, the DRV8701 brushed DC gate driver allows designers to replace up to 45 discrete components with a single device to build smaller and more robust designs. Key features and benefits of the DRV8701 gate driver: System flexibility and scalability, reduces board space and system complexity, higher system reliability, wide and operating voltage. The DRV8701 is available now in a 4-mm by 4-mm quad flat no-lead (QFN) PowerPAD(TM) package, a thermally enhanced standard-size package designed to eliminate the need for bulky heat sinks and slugs. Pricing starts at USD 0.92 in 1,000-unit quantities. The DRV8701 is the latest addition to TI's portfolio of motor drivers. From drop-in and spin to highly complex industrial motors, TI has the most scalable motor solutions across a broad range of voltage, current, interface, integration and control options.
