The Analog segment offers high volume analog and logic products for automotive safety devices, touch screen controllers, low voltage motor drivers, and integrated motor controllers; and power management products to enhance the efficiency of powered devices using battery management solutions, portable power conversion devices, power supply controls, and point-of-load products. This segment also provides high performance analog products, such as high-speed data converters, amplifiers, sensors, high reliability products, interface products, and precision analog products; and silicon valley analog products, including power management, data converter, interface, and operational amplifier catalog analog products that are used in manufacturing various electronic systems. The Embedded Processing segment offers processor products comprising digital signal and applications processors; microcontroller products, which are systems with a processor core, memory, and peripherals to control a set of specific tasks for electronic equipment; and connectivity products consisting of electronic devices to connect and transfer data. The company also provides DLP products primarily used in projectors to create high-definition images; application-specific integrated circuits; calculators; and baseband products, as well as OMAP applications processors and connectivity products. It markets and sells its products through a direct sales force and distributors. The company was founded in 1930 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

Texas Instruments Introduces High Resolution Resistive Sensing Signal Conditioner

Texas Instruments introduced the high resolution resistive sensing signal conditioner, enabling fast and precise 24-bit measurement of conditions such as pressure, strain, flow or liquid levels. The PGA900 signal conditioner offers a programmable core, enabling flexible linearization and temperature compensation for numerous resistive bridge sensing applications. The PGA900 integrates two low-noise 24-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to enable high-resolution signal acquisition, a 14-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to provide highly linear analog outputs, and a variety of output interfaces, including analog voltage, 4-20 mA current loop, SPI, I2C, UART, and one-wire interface (OWI), to give designers options for different application needs. The PGA900's integrated power management accepts external power supply voltages from 3.3 V to 30 V. Key features and benefits of the PGA900 resistive sensing conditioner are fast, precise sensor signal and temperature compensation: Integrates two 24-bit ADCs to provide high-resolution signal acquisition. Low-drift voltage reference of 10 ppm/oC, maximum, enables high accuracy across the -40oC to 150oC operating temperature range. Integrated 14-bit DAC: Enables highly linear analog outputs. User-programmable temperature and nonlinearity compensation algorithms: Integrated ARM® Cortex®-M0 core allows developers to use proprietary temperature and nonlinearity compensation algorithms to differentiate their end products. Simple calibration: One-wire interface allows communication, configuration and calibration through the power supply pin without using additional lines. Wide input voltage allows direct connection to the power supply: Integrated power management circuitry accepts input voltages ranging from 3.3 V to 30 V to simplify the design and provide reliability. The PGA900 evaluation module (EVM) enables designers to quickly and easily evaluate the device's performance and integrated features. The PGA900EVM is available from the TI store and authorized distributors for $249. PGA900 example software and the user's guide, as well as the PSpice and TINA-TI Spice and TINA-TI models can be downloaded at company website. Support is available in the TI E2E™ Community Pressure Sensing Forum, where engineers can search for solutions, get help, share knowledge and solve problems with fellow engineers and TI experts. The PGA900 resistive sensing conditioner comes in a 6-mm-by-6-mm very thin quad flat no-lead (VQFN) package. It is available now, priced at $4.50 in 1,000-unit quantities. The PGA900 is the latest of TI's innovative sensing products addressing temperature, current, light, humidity, proximity, position, motion and more.

Texas Instruments Announces C2000 Delfino F28377S Microcontroller LaunchPad Development Kit

Texas Instruments announced the low-cost C2000™ Delfino™ F28377S microcontroller (MCU) LaunchPad development kit, the first LaunchPad for the Delfino line of MCU. Based on TI's C2000 Delfino F28377S MCU, the LaunchPad offers 200 MHz of 32-bit floating-point performance, newly integrated accelerators, as well as high-integrity analog and control peripherals for $29.99. The LaunchPad is compatible with the Digital Power BoosterPack and Motor Drive BoosterPack and offers a variety of software support to further ease development. The Delfino LaunchPad dramatically reduces the barriers of entry for development of high-performance control systems in digital power, solar, motor control and industrial drives applications. Delfino LaunchPad packed with integration for only $29.99: The C2000 Delfino F28377S MCU LaunchPad is based on TI's 32-bit TMS320F28377S MCU, which brings a new level of performance to TI's LaunchPad ecosystem. The new LaunchPad provides higher performance levels than existing C2000 LaunchPads with the powerful combination of the C28x core and CLA real-time co-processor, providing 400 MIPS of floating-point performance. The MCU is further accelerated by the trigonometric math unit (TMU), which enables the chip to quickly execute trigonometric-based algorithms used in transform and control functions, and a Viterbi Complex Unit (VCU II), which accelerates power line communications algorithms and complex math operations. The MCU also integrates sophisticated analog and control peripherals, including a more flexible PWM architecture, two ADCs supported in 12-bit mode on the LaunchPad, six delta-sigma sinc filters, four windowed comparators and many other control and communications peripherals. Ease motor control and digital power development: The C2000 Delfino F28377S MCU LaunchPad pairs with the Digital Power BoosterPack and the Motor Drive BoosterPack to help designers jump start digital power and motor control development with the F28377S MCU. The LaunchPad is supported by powerSUITE in the controlSUITE™ software tool, which provides centralized software development with examples, header files, application files and more. Designers also have access to a complimentary download of Code Composer Studio™ Integrated Development Environment (IDE), an intuitive programming interface and debugging tool and TI-RTOS, which supports development of multitasking applications. Altair's model-based simulation tool provides further support for TI's C2000 F28377S MCU in the VisSim software tool. Texas Instruments Inc. Elects Janet F. Clark to Board of Directors, Effective July 15

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) announced that Janet F. Clark has been elected to TI's board of directors, effective July 15. Ms. Clark, 60, spent the first 20 years of her career in investment banking and financial consulting before serving for 16 years as chief financial officer at several energy companies. Most recently, she spent a decade at Marathon Oil Corporation, where she culminated her career as executive vice president and chief financial officer before retiring in late 2013. She also serves on the boards of EOG Resources Inc. and Goldman Sachs BDC Inc. and is a past director of Dell Inc.
