The Analog segment offers high volume analog and logic products for automotive safety devices, touch screen controllers, low voltage motor drivers, and integrated motor controllers; and power management products to enhance the efficiency of powered devices using battery management solutions, portable power conversion devices, power supply controls, and point-of-load products. This segment also provides high performance analog products, such as high-speed data converters, amplifiers, sensors, high reliability products, interface products, and precision analog products; and silicon valley analog products, including power management, data converter, interface, and operational amplifier catalog analog products that are used in manufacturing various electronic systems. The Embedded Processing segment offers processor products comprising digital signal and applications processors; microcontroller products, which are systems with a processor core, memory, and peripherals to control a set of specific tasks for electronic equipment; and connectivity products consisting of electronic devices to connect and transfer data. The company also provides DLP products primarily used in projectors to create high-definition images; application-specific integrated circuits; calculators; and baseband products, as well as OMAP applications processors and connectivity products. It markets and sells its products through a direct sales force and distributors. The company was founded in 1930 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

Texas Instruments Announces Processor Software Development Kit

Texas Instruments announced its Processor software development kit (SDK). The Processor SDK scales across TI's latest Sitara™ processors and digital signal processor (DSP) families, allowing customers to use TI's processor family across diverse sets of end products and offering simplified migration from one device to the next. An intuitive development environment with common graphical navigation, tools and utilities across devices makes it easier for developers to find reference software, tools, documentation and training. Developers can tailor their solution to each unique application with a structured software architecture featuring application programming interfaces (APIs), common drivers and frameworks with or without a high-level operating system (OS). The Processor SDK is built on the foundation of a mainline long-term stable (LTS) Linux® kernel, U-Boot, Yocto Project™-compatible file system and Linaro™ tool chain to supply a robust foundation for faster development optimized for embedded applications. TI has long been an industry leader in supporting Linux and is a top contributor to the Linux kernel. This support of the mainline Linux kernel ensures the availability of the latest, stable features and bug fixes to TI processors while maintaining compatibility with prior releases. The Processor SDK also includes application libraries and examples which quickly enable system development using industry standard APIs and frameworks. For example, support for Khronos OpenCL™ enables easy distribution of tasks to different cores in heterogeneous processors without requiring in-depth knowledge of the different cores. When a high-level OS isn't necessary, the new Processor SDK also supports TI-RTOS for optimum real-time performance with an efficient open-source kernel deployed in a wide range of embedded applications for more than 20 years. Component driver libraries provide direct access to peripheral and memory interfaces on silicon for performance tuning and system analysis with or without an operating system.

Texas Instruments Incorporated Introduces New Family of Clock Generators

Texas Instruments Incorporated has introduced a new family of clock generators that reportedly provides ultra-low jitter of 100 femtoseconds, or fs. Compared to conventional reference clock solutions, the new clock generators' jitter performance enables system designers to optimize system timing margins and bit error rate (BER) to reduce data transmission errors. This allows for more reliable communications, networking, server, computing, and high-performance industrial equipment. LMK033x8 clock generators also offer versatile features to reduce design cycle time by facilitating easy prototype design and evaluation. Up to two high-performance PLLatinum fractional-N phase-locked loops (PLLs) with eight outputs enable ultra-low jitter performance of 100 fs root mean square (RMS) over multiple integration bandwidths (1 KHz-5 MHz and 12 KHz-20 MHz). Designers can take advantage of the ultra-low jitter to improve their system BER and increase the reliability of their telecommunications infrastructure equipment. A unique pin-mode control feature enables designers to easily select from 71 pre-programmed frequency startup plans compared to one-time programmable memory offered by competitors. Integrated electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) enables easy customization, while the I2C interface gives system designers complete control of device configuration. Glitchless fine/coarse frequency margining enables designers to simplify the stress and compliance testing of their systems during design verification and process verification (DVT/PVT) of prototypes. Integrated low-dropout regulators (LDOs) provide immunity to power-supply noise without requiring complex filter designs.

Texas Instruments Introduces Stand-Alone USB 2.0 Redriver

Texas Instruments introduced the stand-alone USB 2.0 redriver. The high-speed, bidirectional TUSB211 redriver is AEC-Q100-qualified and designed to improve USB signal integrity in automotive infotainment systems. It offers more than 40% lower power consumption than existing hub solutions, a small footprint with first-of-its-kind pinout to reduce overall solution size, and built-in calibration features to accelerate system evaluation and optimization. These features enable designers to significantly reduce the size, cost and power consumption of automotive infotainment systems that offer navigation, mobile docking and other multimedia features. Key features and benefits of TI's TUSB211 redriver: Simplified evaluation - with the TUSB211, there are no continuity breaks on the printed circuit board (PCB). This allows flow-through of the existing signal and eliminates the need to break the traces when adding the redriver to the PCB; Ultra-low power consumption - The TUSB211 consumes less than 55 mW in active mode 40% lower power consumption than existing hub solutions without compromising speed. It supports USB data rates up to 480 Mbps; Small footprint - The redriver comes in a 1.6-mm-by-1.6-mm, 12-pin super-thin quad flat no-lead (X2QFN) package, offering a 60% smaller package size than the industry-standard package and removing the need for a large hub; Fully compliant to USB standards - The TUSB211 is compatible with USB1.0/1.1, USB 2.0, USB On-the-Go (OTG) and Battery Charging (BC) 1.2 protocols. The bidirectional capability of the device dynamically improves signal quality in both directions regardless of which device is host or peripheral.
