Trimble Introduces New DGNSS Beacon Receiver for Marine Construction

Trimble introduced the Trimble® SPS356 DGNSS Beacon Receiver specifically designed for marine construction. This affordable, dedicated marine receiver allows contractors to achieve sub-meter accuracy using DGNSS or MSK Beacon station corrections for robust, multi-constellation positioning. The receiver is ideal for a range of marine applications including dredging, vessel positioning and tracking, and bathymetric surveying. The Trimble SPS356 brings sub-meter GNSS capabilities to the marine construction industry for reliable positioning applications, and includes support for China's BeiDou and Russia's GLONASS constellations. Corrections can be received from signals broadcast by MSK Beacon stations, from Satellite-based Augmentation Systems (SBAS), or via an external radio or Internet connection from a local reference station. The affordable SPS356 combines a compact design with a rugged housing and high shock and vibration ratings for marine vessel installation in harsh marine environments. The optional internal battery allows the SPS356 to continue functioning through power surges, outages or interruptions, which are common in marine applications. The SPS356 includes Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth capabilities, expanding system integration and connectivity options. Using Wi-Fi, the SPS356 can be accessed using any device with a Web browser, including smartphones or tablets, for configuration and monitoring. The new Trimble SPS356 DGNSS Beacon Receiver is available now through Trimble's Marine Dealer Channel.

Trimble Adds Analytic Tool for Determining Field Profitability in its Connected Farm Solution

Trimble announced that it will be adding a profit and loss reporting feature to its Connected Farm(TM) Field application--a Web-based field data management tool where growers can manage field boundaries, task data, crop health maps and precipitation data. With the new feature--which includes a user-friendly graphical interface--it is now possible for growers to analyze field profitability and make better financial decisions for their operations. The new functionality in Trimble's Connected Farm provides growers with a more robust Web-based management solution that emphasizes precision farming data, field profitability, fleet management and agronomic services. Connected Farm Field provides a scalable and reliable set of management tools for handling large amounts of precision farming task data from a number of different industry sources. This includes both data sent wirelessly from Trimble's Office Sync solution as well as data from a USB drive using Trimble's File Sync utility. Connected Farm leverages the latest in cloud technology to ensure that the data is safely stored, backed-up, and only accessible to users whom the grower has selected. With the easy-to-use profit and loss reporting tool in Connected Farm Field, costs can be assigned to the inputs used within the precision farming data which includes materials, vehicles, implements and operators. In addition, Trimble's brand-agnostic strategy allows growers to gather information from a variety of industry precision farming systems for use in profit and loss calculations. Integrating this financial information creates powerful profit and loss graphics that can enable growers to determine which fields are most profitable and why. The field task data also synchronizes with Trimble's new Connected Farm Field app, a free field record-keeping app that is compatible with a variety of smartphones and tablets using an iOS or Android(TM) operating system. The app synchronizes with Connected Farm Field to utilize client/farm/field names, boundaries, materials, equipment and people to create field task records. The app collects field records for all types of field operations and uses boundaries from Connected Farm Field to automatically detect the field in which the user is located. It records key task details including the date and time worked, acres/hectares covered, equipment usage, personnel usage, material (fertilizer, chemicals, lime, and seed) usage, field conditions and weather conditions (which can automatically be populated from a web weather service). The app sends data to the cloud for use in Connected Farm Field, and can be used offline, with data being sent when Internet access is obtained. The app can especially be beneficial in instances where field tasks were performed either without a vehicle or with a vehicle that does not have a precision farming system.

Trimble Debuts New Rapid Positioning System to Simplify Layout for Building Contractors

Trimble introduced the Trimble® Rapid Positioning System, a simplified layout solution for building construction professionals. The Trimble Rapid Positioning System includes the Trimble RPT600 Layout Station to layout points and capture as-built measurements and Trimble Field Link 2D software running on a performance tablet to control the layout station. The solution enables contractors to record and find positions for layout points including foundation layout, anchor bolts, walls, ceilings and hangers on the construction jobsite. The Trimble Rapid Positioning System is the first layout solution specifically designed to meet the demands of interior and exterior building construction applications. The Trimble RPT600 Layout Station features an easy single-button set-up workflow-Trimble Autostationing-that enables the system to self-locate to automatically determine its position relative to the jobsite with no leveling required. This feature allows contractors to get started faster and with less technical expertise. Building contractors have specialized requirements in collecting and locating layout points, often needing to locate points directly above where their layout tool is positioned. With a unique twin handled design, ceiling layout for contractors can be completed quickly with unobstructed vertical views. Running on the tablet, Trimble Field Link 2D software enables contractors to view their 2D design files and layout points via Trimble VISION™ technology that allows users to remotely see and measure through a live video feed from the instrument on their data controller. This enables the contractor to set-up the tool in the most convenient location. Trimble Field Link 2D introduces a new, simplified user interface and workflows designed for the building contractor. This new system provides increased flexibility to the layout team to use layout points created in the office or easily create points in the field. The round-trip workflow from office to field is seamless for contractors when combining Trimble Field Link 2D and Trimble Connect, a powerful cloud-based construction collaboration platform. Up-to-date files are easily downloaded and uploaded through Trimble Connect enabling collaboration throughout the project from model coordination meeting to delivering final design files for the owner. With an intuitive interface and easy workflow set-up, contractors can quickly take full advantage of the Trimble Rapid Positioning System, while leveraging Trimble's advanced positioning technology to ensure accuracy and complete layout projects more efficiently. The Trimble RPT600 Layout Station and Trimble Field Link 2D software is available now.
