Trimble Navigation Limited Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter of 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Second Quarter of 2015

Trimble Navigation Limited reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter of 2015. For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of $582.6 million compared to $604.7 million a year ago. Operating income was $39.5 million compared to $75.7 million a year ago. Income before taxes was $44.2 million compared to $88.5 million a year ago. Net income attributable to company was $34.1 million or $0.13 per basic and diluted share compared to $68.6 million or $0.26 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $107.2 million compared to $83.4 million a year ago. Acquisitions of property and equipment were $10.6 million compared to $13.6 million a year ago. Non-GAAP operating income was $96.8 million compared to $128.2 million a year ago. Non-GAAP net income attributable to company was $72.7 million or $0.28 per diluted share compared to $102.5 million or $0.39 per diluted share a year ago. Total company operating income percentage was negatively impacted by a number of factors. The major impacts were lower revenue in E&C and agriculture and, to a lesser extent, recent acquisitions. Strong cash flow performance relative to net income resulted from lower working capital. For the second quarter of 2015, the company expects revenue to be between $570 million and $600 million with GAAP earnings per share of $0.04 to $0.12 and non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.23 to $0.30. Non-GAAP guidance excludes the amortization of intangibles of $40 million related to previous acquisitions, anticipated acquisition costs of $4 million, the anticipated impact of stock-based compensation expense of $13 million, and $5 million in anticipated restructuring charges.  GAAP guidance assumes a tax rate of 28% and non-GAAP guidance assumes a tax rate of 24%.

Trimble Launches NextSwath End-of-Row Turn Technology to Improve Operator Performance and Crop Yield for Agriculture

Trimble announced that its NextSwath(TM) end-of-row turn technology is now available. When approaching the end of a crop row, NextSwath automatically calculates and executes the best possible path to turn the farm vehicle around and approach the next crop row or swath with the implement precisely aligned to begin working. This efficient and consistent end-of-row turning saves time and increases productivity, enabling the grower to approach the next line with a turn that is best suited for their vehicle and implement configuration. The technology also saves fuel costs, and reduces crop damage and compaction at field boundaries, which can increase yield. In addition, since Trimble products work on a variety of different machinery, growers are able to use NextSwath technology on a broad range of vehicle brands and implement types. By automating the end-of-row turn process, NextSwath technology can dramatically improve the operator's performance, eliminate towed implement undershooting or overshooting, and minimize skips and overlaps when lining up for the next row. As a result, it is well suited for field tasks that use a pull-behind implement or require multiple applications during the crop season such as nutrient spraying. The ability to make tighter end-of-row turns with pull-type implements can also reduce the headland space needed at the end of the field for turning machines. Plus farm managers can use the equipment utilization functionality in Trimble's Connected Farm(TM) solution to observe and measure the efficiencies gained by automating the end-of-row turns.

Trimble Partners with Microsoft to Bring Microsoft Hololens Wearable Holographic Technology to the AEC Industry

Trimble announced that it is working with Microsoft to develop a new generation of tools, integrated with the HoloLens holographic platform on Windows 10, which are intended to improve quality, collaboration and efficiency in the design, construction and operation of buildings and structures. Microsoft HoloLens is a head-mounted, holographic computer that provides a mixed-reality experience for a range of commercial and consumer applications. When used by architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals, the HoloLens device extends interaction with 3D models beyond the confines of a 2D computer screen, creating new ways for the many stakeholders of complex, multi-phase construction projects to visualize, collaborate, share ideas and manage change.
