toyota motor corp -spon adr (TM) Key Developments

Toyota Motor Corp.'s Labor and Management Reach an Agreement to Carry Out Pay Scale Hike

Toyota Motor Corp.'s labor and management have reached an agreement to carry out a pay scale hike of JPY 4,000 per month this spring, the big increase since the Japanese automaker adopted the current negotiation format in 2002. The size of the increase is short of the JPY 6,000 demanded by the labor side, but higher than the JPY 2,700 implemented a year before. When combined with a regular pay increase, Toyota's monthly salary will rise by JPY 11,300. The management agreed on the second straight year of a pay scale increase, aware of the need for increased salaries to help fuel Japan's economic growth. But it refused to fully meet the labor's request in order to keep the company competitive and maintain employment. Toyota serves as a pacesetter for other Japanese companies in their annual 'shunto' spring wage negotiations. Toyota's management also agreed to provide annual bonuses of about JPY 2.46 million on average, equivalent to 6.8 months' pay, fully meeting the labor's request for the fifth straight year. The management agreed to fully meet the labor's demand for a salary increase of JPY 300 per day, or some JPY 6,000 per month, for limited-term employees, up JPY 100 per day from the previous year.

Higher-spec versions also get LED rear lamps. The facelift model is to be priced from THB 1.319 million.

Marc R. Stanley Files Class Action Lawsuit to Hold Toyota, Ford and GM Accountable for Dangerous Defects Allowing Cars to be Hacked and Drivers to Lose Control

Dallas-based trial attorney Marc R. Stanley filed a class action lawsuit against Toyota, Ford and General Motors for failing to address a defect that allows cars to be hacked and control wrested away from the driver. The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Car manufacturers long have known about the risks posed by this hazard. Last month, 60 Minutes aired a segment demonstrating how a hacker using a laptop could disable the brakes, preventing a driver from stopping or slowing down. Lead attorney Marc Stanley explained, Toyota, Ford and GM have deliberately hidden the dangers associated with car computer systems, misleading consumers.
