The company serves approximately 16.7 million retail mobile customers, 6 million fixed voice customers, and 3.1 million retail fixed data customers. It distributes its services through 371 retail stores, 84 business centers, and 137 business and enterprise partners, as well as through 18,700 retail points. The company was formerly known as Australian and Overseas Telecommunications Corporation Limited and changed its name to Telstra Corporation Limited in April 1993. Telstra Corporation Limited was founded in 1901 and is based in Melbourne, Australia.

Telstra Corporation Limited Announces Executive Changes

Telstra Corporation Limited announced the appointment Karsten Wildberger as Group Executive Retail, currently Group Managing Director Consumer and acting Group Managing Director Products, Cynthia Whelan as Group Executive International and New Businesses, currently Group Managing Director Strategic Finance and acting Group Executive International and Joe Pollard, Chief Marketing Officer and Group Executive Media, currently Group Managing Director Media and Marketing. The roles bring together important areas of the business under leaders each reporting to Mr. Penn. Dr. Wildberger will manage the Retail business including consumer and business divisions, product and digital business units with broader enterprise-wide responsibilities and a strong focus on customer advocacy. The portfolio represents a significant portion of the company's revenue and profit. Dr. Wildberger joined Telstra in January 2013 as GMD Consumer and also assumed accountability as GMD Products from May 2015. Ms Whelan's responsibilities will include driving growth initiatives into new markets, including Telstra Health, Telstra Ventures, Smart Home Solutions and new premium services, as well as Telstra's international operations. Responsibilities for Strategic Finance, including mergers and acquisitions, will remain with Chief Financial Officer Warwick Bray. Ms Whelan came to Telstra in 2013 from her role as CEO of Barclays in Australia and New Zealand since 2010, having previously led Debt Capital Markets for Barclays across Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Gordon Ballantyne to Leave Telstra Retail Group in December

Telstra Retail Group Executive, Gordon Ballantyne, will leave Telstra in December after more than five years helping deliver significant growth for the business. A seasoned global technology executive, Mr. Ballantyne joined Telstra as Consumer Group Managing Director in June 2010, before taking the newly created role of Chief Customer Officer across all customer segments of consumer, business, enterprise and government in July 2012. Mr. Ballantyne has been Retail Group Executive since October 2013.

Telstra Wins 3-Year Contract with Medibank Private Insurer

Telstra has been selected as private health insurer Medibank Private's exclusive telecommunications partner in a three-year multi-million dollar contract. By consolidating its eight previous suppliers to just one, Telstra, Medibank will save 37% on its telecommunications. Telstra will refresh LAN and WAN equipment to mitigate network risks and improve capability, while delivering the latest in enterprise mobility services. Telstra will also provide a collaborative environment through the use of Skype for Business across its corporate office and retail locations.
