te connectivity ltd (TEL) Key Developments

Fuller Apartment Homes Offers $25 per Month Gigabit Internet Access with TE Connectivity's Passive Optical LAN

TE Connectivity has teamed up with Qypsys and Zhone Technologies to deploy TE's Optical LAN Solution for residential high-speed Internet access at Park Square at Seven Oaks. This newly completed 224-unit upscale apartment development in Bakersfield, Calif. offers an innovative, micro-community based broadband model, where residents pay a flat monthly fee of $25, without the hassles of signing up for service, waiting for an installer or committing to long-term contracts.

TE Connectivity Adds Wire-to-Board Headers to its Power Triple Lock Connector Family

TE Connectivity introduced new wire-to-board headers as part of its Power Triple Lock connector product line; thereby expanding the family of connectors targeting appliances into a growing number of HVAC, automation and control, and automotive designs. The connectors' combined attributes of higher-current ratings, connection reliability assurance options and higher temperature operation provide an exceptional value-added solution to customers when compared to similar pin-and-socket connectors. The 6.0mm center line connectors in the Power Triple Lock connector family offer higher current ratings than competitive products (20A vs.18A). Their higher temperature ratings (150 C vs. 130 C degrees) help increase reliability in cooking and other high-temperature applications. For assembly reliability, the family offers an optional – and unique – CPA (Connector Position Assurance) device that helps keep the connector fully mated and engaged during shipment, installation and use. Another optional mechanism, the TPA (Terminal Position Assurance) device, provides secondary locking of the contact into the connector housing. To ease assembly, Power Triple Lock connectors feature rounded edges and an anti-snag design. They also feature a latch that audibly clicks to indicate that the header or cap and plug are mated. Additionally, the connectors' design helps reduce fretting to prevent corrosion in applications, which is a key reliability concern in HVAC and automotive designs. The Power Triple Lock connectors are V-0 rated (UL 94 V-0) and are color coded. The family consists of existing wire-to-wire and new wire-to-board versions. The connectors offer nine keying options in different housing colors to help improve assembly efficiency and prevent mismatch. For versatile harness and circuit board positioning, the wire-to-wire connectors are available in single row (2, 3, 4, 5), dual row (2x3, 2x4, 2x5, 2x6) and matrix (3x3, 3x4, 3x5) configurations. The wire-to-board versions are offered in single row (2, 3, 4, 5) configurations.

TE Connectivity Expands Quareo Physical Layer Management Product Family

TE Connectivity announced that it has expanded its Quareo family of physical layer management solutions with additional products featuring connection point identification technology. Quareo PLM solutions enable higher network availability while reducing network costs by integrating full visibility of the physical layer into existing network management applications. The new products expand options for central office and data center network architects who want to implement physical layer management to gain an accurate, real-time view of the physical network. TE's Quareo PLM system is an end-to-end solution, combining hardware and software elements and CPID technology to provide accurate visibility on the state of the physical network at all times. It enables easier, smarter network management for everyone from cable installers to network managers, strengthening physical security, boosting availability and providing real-time communication with network assets. The new NG4access optical distribution frame (ODF) featuring Quareo technology (QNG4), provides superior access to high-density fiber terminations up to 3,456 fibers per frame. With innovations in access trays, universal adapter packs, cabled modules and multi fiber push-on modules, installing and maintaining large amounts of fiber can be done faster, easier and less expensively than previous ODF solutions available on the market. The high-density equipment panel featuring Quareo technology (QHDEP), is a 1RU fiber optic panel with six technician-friendly access trays. Each tray features a mounting location for holding one LC or MPO adapter pack, or MPO module or cabled module. A single access tray can serve up to 24 LC fiber connections or 8 MPO fiber connections. At full capacity, the QHDEP will hold up to 144 (LC), 576 (12F MPO), or 1,152 (24F MPO) fiber connections. With many different adapter packs and modules this allows for quick modular deployment for 10, 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet links which can be mixed in the same high-density equipment panel (QHDEP) chassis. These modules can be changed or upgraded without disturbing adjacent cables.
