TCF Financial Corporation operates as the bank holding company for TCF National Bank that provides various retail and commercial banking products and services. The company’s Lending segment offers retail lending services, including consumer loans for personal, family, and household purposes, such as home purchases, debt consolidation, and financing of home improvements. This segment also provides loans secured by personal property, as well as unsecured personal loans; commercial real estate and business lending products; lease and equipment finance; inventory finance; and auto finance. Its Funding segment provides deposit products, including free checking accounts, money market accounts, regular savings accounts, certificates of deposit, and retirement savings plan accounts. This segment also offers treasury services. As of December 31, 2014, the company had 381 branches in Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado, Wisconsin, Arizona, South Dakota, and Indiana. TCF Financial Corporation was founded in 1923 and is headquartered in Wayzata, Minnesota.

TCF Financial Corporation Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015

TCF Financial Corporation reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, net interest income was $203.420 million against $201.274 million a year ago. Income before income tax expense was $64.500 million against $73.053 million a year ago. Net income available to common stockholders was $34.954 million or $0.21 per diluted share against $39.910 million or $0.24 per diluted share a year ago. Tangible book value per common share as on date is $9.91 against $9.72 in previous quarter. Return on average assets was $0.85 against $1.00 a year ago. Return on average tangible common equity was $8.58 against $4.80 a year ago. The decrease in net income was primarily due to lower average loan and lease balances in the consumer real estate portfolios after the TDR loan sale in the fourth quarter of 2014, the proceeds of which are expected to be reinvested in core businesses over the next several quarters. The decrease was primarily offset by higher average loan balances in the inventory finance and auto finance portfolios.

The Board of Directors of TCF Financial Corporation declared quarterly cash dividends on TCF’s common shares, 7.50% Series A Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock and 6.45% Series B Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock. A quarterly cash dividend of $0.05 per common share is payable on June 1, 2015 to stockholders of record at the close of business on May 15, 2015. A quarterly cash dividend of $0.46875 per depositary share is payable on June 1, 2015 to holders of record of the depositary shares, representing a 1/1,000th interest in a share of the 7.50% Series A Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock, at the close of business on May 15, 2015. A quarterly cash dividend of $0.403125 per share is payable on June 1, 2015 to holders of record of the 6.45% Series B Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock at the close of business on May 15, 2015.
