Sysco Corporation, through its subsidiaries, markets and distributes a range of food and related products primarily to the foodservice or food-away-from-home industry. It operates in Broadline and SYGMA segments. The company distributes a line of frozen foods, such as meats, seafood, fully prepared entrees, fruits, vegetables, and desserts; a line of canned and dry foods; fresh meats; dairy products; beverage products; imported specialties; and fresh produce. It also supplies various non-food items comprising paper products, including disposable napkins, plates, and cups; tableware, such as china and silverware; cookware consisting of pots, pans, and utensils; restaurant and kitchen equipment and supplies; and cleaning supplies. In addition, it distributes personal care guest amenities, equipment, housekeeping supplies, room accessories, and textiles to the lodging industry. The company offers its products to the restaurants, hospitals and nursing homes, schools and colleges, hotels and motels, industrial caterers, and other foodservice customers through distribution facilities. As of June 28, 2014, it operated 194 distribution facilities in the United States, Bahamas, Canada, Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Sysco Corporation was founded in 1969 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Sysco Corporation announced earnings results for the first quarter ended September 27, 2014. Sales for the reported quarter increased to $12.45 billion, from $11.71 billion in first quarter of fiscal year 2014. Sysco's net earnings narrowed to $278.81 million, or $0.47 per diluted share, from $285.59 million, or $0.48 per diluted share, in first quarter of fiscal year 2014. On an adjusted basis, Sysco's net earnings increased to $308.90 million, or $0.52 per diluted share, from $287.06 million, or $0.49 per diluted share, in first quarter of fiscal year 2014.

Sysco Corporation Appoints Tom Bene as Executive Vice President and President of Foodservice Operations, Effective Jan. 1, 2015

Sysco Corporation announced that Tom Bené has been appointed as executive vice president and president of foodservice operations, effective Jan. 1, 2015. Bené will succeed Mike Green, who previously announced his intention to retire from Sysco at the end of 2014 after 24 years of distinguished service. Bené will report directly to Bill DeLaney, Sysco president and chief executive officer, and have management responsibility for Sysco's U.S. broadline operations, SYGMA, specialty meat companies, FreshPoint, Guest Supply, European Imports, international, shared services and revenue management. Bené joined Sysco as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer in March of 2013 and was named executive vice president and chief commercial officer in August of that year.

Sysco Close To Asset Sale To Win Antitrust Nod For US Foods

Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY) is in advanced talks to sell some assets to a food company owned by The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX) in order to win regulatory approval for its acquisition of US Foods Inc , the New York Post reported, citing sources. Besides Blackstone-owned Performance Food, Sysco had been negotiating with two other regional players, Reinhart Foodservice and Gordon Food Service, to buy assets.
