Senex Energy has cut 30 jobs and reduced capital expenditure this financial year by 20% in the wake of the plummeting oil price. The redundancies, comprising about 15% of the mid cap oil player's staff, were made on January 20, 2015 with immediate effect. Eighteen of the jobs lost involve existing employees, while a further 12 jobs are vacancies that will now not be filled.

Senex Energy Ltd. announced production and sales results for the quarter ended December 2014. For the quarter, the company reported that its production fell 5.3% to 0.36 mmboe in the December quarter from 0.38 mmboe in the September quarter. For the quarter, the company reported that its sales fell 5.4% to 0.35 mmboe from 0.37 mmboe with the average oil price falling 28.3% to AUD 81 a barrel from AUD 113 a barrel, which left sales revenue down 33.5% to $28.2 million from $42.4 million.

For the period, the company’s capital expenditure guidance reduced from $100 million - $120 million to $85 million -$90 million. The reductions in expenditure are in response to the expected decrease in full year revenues as result of current energy market conditions.
