SunEdison, Inc. develops, manufactures, and sells silicon wafers to the semiconductor industry. The company operates through three segments: Solar Energy, TerraForm Power, and Semiconductor Materials. The Solar Energy segment provides solar energy services that integrate the design, installation, financing, monitoring, operations, and maintenance portions of the downstream solar market. It also manufactures polysilicon, silicon wafers, and solar modules. As of December 31, 2014, this segment had interconnected approximately 974 solar power systems representing 2.35 gigawatts of solar energy generating capacity. The TerraForm Power Segment owns and operates clean power generation assets that sell electricity through long-term power purchase agreements to utility, commercial, and residential customers. The Semiconductor Materials segment manufactures and sells silicon wafers to the semiconductor industry, such as prime and test/monitor wafers; polished wafers for various applications, including memory, analog, RF devices, digital signal processors, and power devices; EPI wafers; and silicon-on-insulator wafers that enhances switching speeds and the performance of RF devices, such as power amplifiers, switches, and sensors. Its wafers are used as starting materials for the manufacture of various types of semiconductor devices, including microprocessor, memory, logic, and power devices. SunEdison, Inc. serves semiconductor device manufacturers, including the memory, microprocessor, and ASIC manufacturers; foundries; national retail chains and real estate property management firms; federal, state, and municipal governments; and utilities. It markets its products and services primarily through a direct sales force, as well as local or regional solar channel partners. The company was formerly known as MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. and changed its name to SunEdison, Inc. in May 2013. SunEdison, Inc. was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

SunEdison Inaugurates 50-Megawatts of Solar in Madhya Pradesh

SunEdison, Inc. announced the inauguration of the Dammakhedi 50-megawatt (MW) DC solar power plant in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Dammakhedi is the first solar power plant in the state to use single axis tracker technology to maximize energy production. The project created more than 1,000 jobs during construction, and was completed two months ahead of schedule. Dammakhedi is connected to the Madhya Pradesh state grid, delivering power to the central government's Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). It is among the first projects to be commissioned under the second phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), an ecologically sustainable growth initiative by the State and National Governments of India. Madhya Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Department (MPNRED) is the state nodal agency assigned to oversee the project on a local level, and Sterling and Wilson and Larson and Toubro assisted as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for the project. The plant was interconnected in December 2014.

SunEdison and Green Charge Networks Team Up to Deliver Additional Electricity Savings with Solar Plus Energy Storage Offering

SunEdison, Inc. and Green Charge Networks announced that they have teamed up to deliver a solar plus storage system to the municipal utility Silicon Valley Power. This project is part of an ongoing strategic partnership between SunEdison and Green Charge Networks to deliver additional electricity savings to commercial and municipal customers throughout Calif. The strategic partnership combines SunEdison's solar development, asset management and financing expertise with Green Charge's intelligent energy storage system and networked management platform. Customers are able to install a solar plus storage system with zero upfront costs by signing a power purchase agreement with SunEdison and a power efficiency agreement with Green Charge.

TerraForm In Talks To Buy $2.6 Billion Of Wind Plants

SunEdison, Inc. (NYSE:SUNE) is currently in active negotiations to acquire up to 1.2G W of wind generation power plants for total consideration of up to $2.6 billion, discloses TerraForm Power, Inc. (NasdaqGS:TERP) in a prospectus for its $599 million stock offering. "We would expect the potential cash flow characteristics of the portfolio of power plants to be generally comparable to our existing portfolio."
