Statoil ASA, an energy company, engages in the exploration, production, transportation, refining, and marketing of petroleum and petroleum-derived products in Norway and internationally. The company operates through Development and Production Norway; Development and Production International; Marketing, Processing and Renewable Energy; and Other segments. It is involved in the development and production of oil and gas through owning exploration licenses in Norway, North America, South America and sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Europe and Asia, and the Oceania. The company also transports, processes, manufactures, markets, and trades oil and gas commodities, such ascrude, condensate, gas liquids, products, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, and refined products; markets and trades electricity and emission rights; and operates refineries, gas processing plants, methanol plants, and crude oil terminals. In addition, the company develops offshore wind projects in north-western Europe; and develops carbon capture and storage projects. As of December 31, 2014, it had proved reserves of approximately 5,359 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company was formerly known as StatoilHydro ASA and changed its name to Statoil ASA in November 2009. Statoil ASA was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway.

Statoil ASA Announces Executive Changes

Statoil ASA has appointed Bard Glad Pedersen as vice president of media relations. Glad Pedersen will as vice president media relations head the corporate press office and take on the role as corporate spokesperson. He succeeds Jannik Lindbaek jr, who is appointed vice president for the communication unit in Global business service. Glad Pedersen comes from the position as state secretary (deputy minister) in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will join Statoil after having served his potential quarantine leaving his current position. Bard Glad Pedersen was spokesperson for Statoil's international activities until he was appointed state secretary in 2013.

Petronas Is Said To Consider Buying Statoil’s Stake In TAP Project

Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) is said to consider buying Statoil ASA's (OB:STL) stake in TAP project, a gas pipeline into Europe from the Caspian basin, two people with knowledge of the matter said. Petroliam Nasional may buy Statoil's 20% stake in the project, said the people, who asked not to be identified as the process is confidential. No final decision has been made and Petronas may choose not to pursue the acquisition, they said. A spokeswoman for TAP declined to comment via e-mail on potential changes to shareholdings in the project, reported Edge Malaysia, and representatives for Statoil and Petronas didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
