Statoil ASA, an energy company, engages in the exploration, production, transportation, refining, and marketing of petroleum and petroleum-derived products in Norway and internationally. The company operates through Development and Production Norway; Development and Production International; Marketing, Processing and Renewable Energy; and Other segments. It is involved in the development and production of oil and gas through owning exploration licenses in Norway, North America, South America and sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Europe and Asia, and the Oceania. The company also transports, processes, manufactures, markets, and trades oil and gas commodities, such ascrude, condensate, gas liquids, products, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, and refined products; markets and trades electricity and emission rights; and operates refineries, gas processing plants, methanol plants, and crude oil terminals. In addition, the company develops offshore wind projects in north-western Europe; and develops carbon capture and storage projects. As of December 31, 2014, it had proved reserves of approximately 5,359 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company was formerly known as StatoilHydro ASA and changed its name to Statoil ASA in November 2009. Statoil ASA was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway.

Statoil Reportedly to Sell Stake in Trans Adriatic Pipeline

Statoil ASA (OB:STL) intends to sell its 20% stake in Trans Adriatic Pipeline. Rovnag Abdullajev, Chief Executive Officer of SOCAR, states that there are companies ready to take over Statoil's share. According to sources Reuters has talked to, Statoil's share is worth around EUR 400 million.

Rosneft and Statoil ASA Complete Pilot Drilling at North-Komsomolskoye Field

Rosneft and Statoil ASA completed drilling works as part of the Pilot Project at the PK1 layer of the North-Komsomolskoye field. In 2015, the companies jointly drilled 2 horizontal exploitation wells. Rosneft and Statoil plan to hold wells testing and determine further prospects and methods of PK1 layer development based on the testing results. Implementation of the Project may allow effective development of about 600 million tonnes of geological oil in place at the North-Komsomolskoye field in the short term.

GE and Statoil Initiative Launch Second Open Innovation Challenge

GE and Statoils Sustainability Collaboration has launched the call for entries for its second Open Innovation Challenge focusing on water usage in the development of onshore unconventional oil and gas reservoirs. Statoil and GE's joint-industry initiative seeks innovative ideas to reduce and reuse water in onshore shale development. Through crowd sourcing, the Challenge seeks to find innovative solutions for both reducing fresh water usage and treating and reusing water from development activities while maintaining or improving productivity. This collaboration with Statoil is centered on both companies commitment to continued investment in technology and innovation to help develop low-cost and more efficient energy solutions. Recognize that great ideas transcend any one company or geography, which is why have launched this open innovation challenge.
