It is also involved in the operation of communications projects; transmission and processing of information; wholesale and retail trade of recharge card services, and telecommunication equipment and devices; provision of computer services; sale and re-sale of fixed and mobile telecommunication services; and maintenance and operation of commercial centers. In addition, the company operates and maintains telecommunication, computer systems’, and Internet networks; and operates, maintains, and installs telecommunication and information technology systems and programs, as well as engages in the content services and digital media businesses. Further, it provides mobile, international telecommunications, broadband, and other related services; owns, invests in, and manages real estate and contracting; provides consulting, and importing and exporting services; engages in electrical and communication networks business, and wholesale and retail trade in fixed telecommunications equipment, electrical appliances, advertising and publicity material, spare parts, automatic payment equipment, and automatic points of sale equipment; imports, markets, installs, and maintains fixed and mobile telecommunications, and information technology licensed devices. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Telecom Company to Build Data Centers

The Saudi Telecom Company and Cisco have decided to collaborate for building three new data centers in response to growing market needs to accelerate and streamline cloud adoption in Saudi Arabia. The company is looking to help customers in all sectors to achieve new level of productivity agility and cost saving through cloud adoption and Cisco's ACI is a data center and cloud solution which offer full visibility and integrated management of both physical and virtual networked IT resources all built around the needs of applications.

SK Telecom and Saudi Telecom Company Sign MOU for Strategic Cooperation on the Creative Economy Concept as New Growth Engine

SK Telecom announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to collaborate on the development of the innovation capabilities in Saudi Arabia by benchmarking Korea's Creative Economy Concept. In addition, both companies agreed to explore development of mutually rewarding business opportunities in Saudi Arabia and potentially the region, especially in areas including digital healthcare, education and Smart Cities. The MOU signing ceremony was held on March 4, 2015. Under the MOU, SK Telecom and STC will benchmark SK Creative Economic Innovation Center and collaborate on the development of the innovation capabilities in Saudi Arabia with the aim to promote the creation of diverse mutually-beneficial business models between large companies and small startups in the Kingdom. Moreover, SK Telecom and STC have also agreed to share technological expertise and marketing knowhow in diverse areas to strengthen their business presence not only in Saudi Arabia but also in the overseas markets. SK Telecom will share its products and marketing capabilities in areas of smart cities, digital healthcare, smart learning, IoT, Lifeware (life+hardware/software) and BEMS (Building Energy Management System). Through business collaboration on these areas, STC expects to secure new growth engines, extending its reach beyond the telecommunications market.

Saudi Telecom Co Mulls Acquisition

Saudi Telecom Company (SASE:7010) is seeking acquisition. Abdulaziz Alsugair, Chairman of Saudi Telecom Co said, “Saudi Telecom Co plans to acquire companies to help expand data services in Saudi Arabia.” “The Riyadh-based company plans to partner with or acquire at least five information and communication technology firms in the kingdom or abroad”, Abdulaziz Alsugair said in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday. “Saudi Telecom Co has no plans to acquire other telecommunications companies,” Abdulaziz Alsugair said. "As for acquisitions, we will be proactive as it relates to the strategy to grow our ICT business both for commercial companies and government," Abdulaziz Alsugair said, declining to give details about possible targets. "We expect that by the end of this year we will be probably acquiring some companies in Saudi Arabia and maybe smaller companies outside," Abdulaziz Alsugair said.
