Bradesco To Reportedly Sell Insurance Business To Swiss

Banco Bradesco S.A. (BOVESPA:BBDC4) is in talks to sell a high-risk insurance business. Swiss Re Ltd. (SWX:SREN) will acquire the assets for about BRL 800 million, a person with direct knowledge of the matter said. The business Bradesco is planning to sell protects construction and infrastructure projects as well as corporate real estate and equipment. The bank will instead focus on retail insurance, the person said, asking not to be identified because discussions between the Osasco-based bank and Swiss Re are private. Bloomberg added that Bradesco and Swiss Re officials declined to comment on the talks.

International Business Machines Corporation and Swiss Re Group to Develop Underwriting Solutions

International Business Machines Corporation, or IBM, and Swiss Re Group have announced that they are developing a range of underwriting solutions that rely on IBM Watson's cognitive computing technologies. By applying Watson's capabilities, the new platform could allow Swiss Re professionals to make better informed decisions and more accurately price risk. Swiss Re and IBM are collaborating to establish a vision for cognitive computing at Swiss Re and the wider insurance industry. As part of the initiative Swiss Re has also set up a Center of Competence where a group of data scientists will work with IBM's cognitive computing technology to explore and deliver a wide range of use cases.
