Fortinet and Spirent Communications Plc. Announce the Results of Performance Tests Conducted on the FortiGate(R)-3810D

Fortinet and Spirent Communications plc announced the results of performance tests conducted on the FortiGate(R)-3810D, the latest Fortinet firewall appliance designed for large enterprises, Communication Service Providers (CSPs) and data center environments. Consumption of applications and content has dramatically increased the bandwidth demands traversing organizations' network infrastructure. Networks are becoming rapidly oversaturated as the volume of data center traffic is seeing a 10X jump from the industry standard 10 Gbps Ethernet (GbE). This trend calls for appliances with core network bandwidth capabilities approaching 100 GbE and beyond. Spirent's test results validate the high performance and scalability delivered by the FortiGate-3810D. Testing with Spirent solutions showed that the FortiGate-3810D, which comes standard with six 100-Gigabit Ethernet ports, all in one compact 3U appliance form factor, delivers a steady 292 Gbps Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) throughput and 317 Gbps User Datagram Protocol (UDP) throughput with zero packet loss at 512 bytes packet size. The appliance also achieves latency as low as 4.23 microseconds (s) under 100% load, and tests confirmed there is no performance degradation between IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. Other test results unveil that the FortiGate-3810D supports more than 100 Million concurrent sessions and a setup rate of 550,000 new connections per second.

Spirent Communications Announces Additional Capabilities for Its Ultra-Wideband GSS6425

Spirent Communications announced additional capabilities for its ultra-wideband GSS6425, which enable recording up to 150MHz bandwidth of GNSS signals. Users can now record up to three RF frequency bands at any one time with 10, 30 or 50 MHz bandwidth each1. Other enhancements include ability to record up to four video streams, USB 3.0 support and easy remote control using tablet or smartphone. A single portable test system, the ultra-wideband GSS6425 allows customers to record GPS L1 and L2 and GLONASS L1 and L2 signals commonly needed for applications requiring very high accuracy such as surveying, precision agriculture, automotive research, and advanced navigation. The support for USB 3.0 has also been added, to facilitate faster recording transfer to and from the test system. Users can also use this to record data straight onto to any external hard drive supporting this interface, to record for a longer duration of time.

Lockheed Martin Chooses Spirent Federal Systems to Provide GPS/INS Simulation Systems for its F-35

Lockheed Martin has selected Spirent Federal Systems to provide GPS/INS simulation systems for its F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Mission Systems Integration Lab (MSIL). The Spirent simulators being supplied will enable the JSF MSIL to support critical Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing in the lab for fully evaluating F-35 mission systems and mission critical sensors substantially augmenting and reducing instrumented flight testing. The Spirent systems will also be utilized to provide aiding in the JSF Vehicle Systems Integration Facility (VSIF).
