Sahara Petrochemical Company announced earnings results for the second quarter and first six months of 2015. For the quarter, net profit fell by 93.8% year on year to SAR 11.4 million ($3.04 million). The company swung to an operating loss of SAR 10.6 million versus an operating profit of SAR 90.3 million in the same period a year earlier. The decline in product prices and demand at Saudi Acrylic Acid plant (SAAC), Super Absorbent Polymers Company (SAPCO) and Sahara and Maaden Petrochemical Company (SAMAPCO) negatively impacted Sahara's profits and the decline in output volumes at Al Waha Petrochemical Company and SAMPACO due to planned shutdowns also weighed on Sahara's earnings. For the first six months, the company posted a net loss of SAR 38.1 million, reversing the SAR 284.9 million net profit it reported in the corresponding period of 2014.

The company announced that its net profit dropped to SAR 394.2 million in 2014 from SAR 570.8 million, a decrease of 30.9% year-on-year.
